How so? Is there something feature wise with the Samsung firmware that is pulling you back? Stability?

Also - excuse my ignorance.. but AOSP, AOKP? :)

ok may have this wrong but AOSP (Android open source project) is based on google source (Pure android with no manufacturers add ons)

CM (Cyanogen Mod) AOSP based with tweaks

AOKP (Android open Kang project) is a mix of both CM and AOSP

Don't know a lot about CM but like AOKP spent a bit of time on Resurrection remix which was differant to what I am used to being Samsung custom roms.

I suppose I am used to Samsung roms and like some of the small quirks like putting phone to ear when in messages and it calls the person.

Its purely subjective so my suggestion is get comfortable with flashing and doing backups and try some of them. Best to try them for a week as it takes a couple of days for things to settle down, then go with the one that suits you most.

XDA is your friend so have a look at the threads and see what people are saying about them, also in the general section is a list of what is available which saves going through the development threads.

Cadriel: Hi all, recent SGSIII convert here.

First thing I did was Root and stick on CyanogenMod 9. So completely happy with things thus far - have come from an iPhone 4 and won't be going apple again anytime soon.

Has anyone tried any of the CyanogenMod 10 builds thus far? Stable, or no.. ?

Tried CM10, love CM, love Jellybean, was okay in 95% of aspects, but wasnt reliable in Youtube (esp changing orientatation during playback), and radio (WiFi/Bluetooth etc) switching was not reliable (I do this a lot with Tasker). Wasnt quite primetime for a power user (which is who CM non-stable releases are for!).

Back on CM9.

Miss stock camera!
Miss eye detection (worked perfectly for me).

Will go stock JB I'd say! (With ADW Ex or something).

Have you tried Nova Launcher?

fallen: I have deleted my samsung account, created another one, changed the country to Australia. Deleted the Samsung account from the phone, cleared the cache on the Samsung Apps on the phone. When I try to sign in to the Samsung apps on the phone I get the following message any ideas? I am running stock firmware and don't have root access yet.

MARKET ENABLER, you need to set the market enabler to a AU network mate. You're half way, but you can still go back and change your country to NZ the same way you changed it to AU if you don't want to go forward using Market enabler.

Sorted. Thanks for your help.

I often go back to stock when i get fed up with FC's and things that dont work.

Lots of cool tweaks but my phone is also my business tool so needs to be 110% reliable.

Hi guys Got my GS3 earlier today, havent booted it up yet. Its 16Gb Pebble Blue, won it in a competition. Would of liked 32Gb but beggers cant be choosers :). Manual says I should charge the phone before using it, does that matter or not? Im guessing I could just use what battery it has left first then charge it..?

Cheers

Always good to give it a charge to 100% before first use. I know it's hard to resist ;-)

Cheers mate, will give it a charge then :). Yeah coming from a Nexus One this is going to be interesting :)

One more question (for now anyway lol) which MHL cable should I be looking out for?

Something like this http://www.trademe.co.nz/mobile-phones/accessories/cases-protectors/other/auction-508843510.htm

Or http://www.trademe.co.nz/mobile-phones/accessories/data-cables/samsung/auction-509144325.htm

Or even this? http://www.clove.co.uk/micro-hdmi-to-hdmi-cable

Thanks in advance for everybodys help :)
