My next piece of the Telecom Tech Blog review should hopefully be up soon, looking at the camera.

I included a blind 4-way camera shootout at the end - One X Vs Note Vs iPhone 4S Vs standalone digital camera. Trialled the shoot-out with my fiance and the digital camera came second! Can't wait to see everyone's thoughts, really interesting exercise!

Hi

i have a HTC one x from telecom but put a Vodafone Sim card and wanted to know if that has any affect on my phone getting an update because i haven't received one from telecom? Has telecom even released a update for the one x yet i'm still on 1.26?

No updates from Telecom yet, could be wrong I don't think having a Voda SIM in there will affect updates.

Does that mean if someone has a Telecom branded handset, but later moves to another carrier, they'll still be dependent on Telecom for future updates?

There are many things I'm loving about my time in Androidland, but the control that carriers have over the update process, and the delays this inevitably involves, is not one of them.

It'll always be dependent on the original carrier. The different SIM will only change network related stuff, not the CID and IMEI that is relied upon for updates

Seeing as they're up to 1.29 and Telecom is on 1.26 (don't know what Vodafone is on so am just referring to Telecom), can Telecom go straight to 1.29 or will they forever be a few steps behind?

They could go straight to 1.29, but likely won't. For whatever reason their carrier firmware testing is quite protracted, so they'll be a fair way along testing 1.28 now and will probably push that out before moving on to 1.29. In short, they are likely to always been a few steps behind (unless HTC slow the updates a lot).

So the parallel imported phones that are around will be running/can be updated to 1.29 as they're not dependant on the carriers testing each update before releasing?

Parallel Imported ones tend to be better for updates, yes. Depends a little on their location of origin though - usually Euro or UK ones are best since updates tend to roll out first to those markets.

Just got 1.29 (imported from Clove)

Launcher action is definitely smoother, quite a bit more RAM free so I've switched back to Sense launcher. Haven't noticed any other changes but I'll keep an eye on the battery!

The next update, 1.29.401.11 is already rolling out in Europe today as well. Thats the one i really want as users have reported it fixes the disappearing storage space issue.

It fixes the screen flicker issues some people have experienced as well
