Hi,

I have had my S3 for 2 weeks now and love it. I have run into a bit of a problem today where my computer only detects it as an Unknown device. I have only connected to my computer once before last week to copy some music to it, and that worked fine. Today however it no go. I have tried a second windows PC and i get the same result.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Try uninstalling/reinstalling Kies perhaps. I got the same issue recently so grabbed a newer Kies and was fine after that.

I recently had trouble with a galaxy tab and kies not recognizing it, I fiddled around and worked out it was uninstalling a banking app that made the difference, havnt had the same trouble with the s3 but then again I don't use kies with it often. Thought this might be useful info for you........

I have tried another cable. I will reset the phone tonight when I get home from work, hopefully that fixes it.

I had the same problem with my work pc

Go to device manager and you will see it as unknown device so right click and update drivers and search drivers automatically (so over the internet - it will find its appropriate drivers) and that did the trick for me

I know how to fix your problem. I have the drivers for this problem. Would you like my help?

PM me :) Then we can sort something out. I'll upload the driver for you to install. Mine has been fixed ever since. If it doesn't then I'll help you do a registry hack and clean up.

Im not a fan of screen protectors personally myself, and both of my previous phones, the S2 and Captivate i had for approximately a year each and never ever got scratches on them.

Yes it is harden and scratch resistant but it is not unscratchable. Protecting is better than repairing.
My colleague has an S3 and it already had a scratch on the screen after two weeks.
I'm sticking to "better be safe than sorry" phrase.
