So what is the story on the Jelly Bean 4.1.1 update for the Samsung Galaxy S3? Are Telecom customers going to receive it in a timely manner or is it going to be once again held up by Telecom? same can be said for HTC One X or are the changes so minor that HTC isn't going to bother with it?

Jellybean hasn't been released yet by Samsung still in beta stage but seems to be getting closer to official release maybe next week. Telco's will then have to do what they do so who knows how long for that.

Damager: Im not a fan of screen protectors personally myself, and both of my previous phones, the S2 and Captivate i had for approximately a year each and never ever got scratches on them.

ditto - I think it's easier for guys who generally keep their phone in their pocket. I've got in the habit of 'left pocket = phone', 'right pocket = keys & wallet'

ditto - I think it's easier for guys who generally keep their phone in their pocket. I've got in the habit of 'left pocket = phone', 'right pocket = keys & wallet'

Me too lol. My right pocket is always wallet and left is for my phone.

Claiming a opco hold up all updates clearly shows you don't know how the process works, There is even a blog post written by a Telecom NZ staff member on Geekzone I suggest you read it

Example ICS for the SGII and the Galaxy Note were approved by Vodafone NZ and took many weeks to be released by Samsung Korea to our customers, One update took almost 8 weeks from approval

Vodafone NZ have approved a MR for ICS 4.04 on the SG3 about 4 weeks back, I have it loaded on my handset and our customers are still waiting for it today,

Yeah, I've got a jacket with an inside pocket and I keep my phone there, with the screen towards my body. Nothing else goes in that pocket, so no chance of scratches.

Seemed to me the point kawaii was making was that (s)he feels telecom customers wait longer than everyone else, regardless of process, the customer experience does count for something! I don't know if it's a valid point.................

I can't stand how screen protectors feel to the touch - completely ruins the experience IMO. So yeah, I don't have one on my S3, and never will... I also have a dedicated pocket position for the phone, screen facing my leg.

I've never had one of my devices scratched significantly. The odd wear and tear scratch, but nothing huge.

I think it comes down to looking after your gear - not a slight on anyone, some people just don't, it's not in their psyche.

Interestingly, I'm left pocket for wallet + car key, right pocket for phone(s). (Stupid work phone)

I've seen people slam their phone down on a desk really hard because they were having problems with it. Made me think that maybe the problems were actually caused by the bad treatment in the first place!

I agree, I've tried screen protectors two or three times recently and it's s the feel of them that puts me off.

I've gone with a leather flip type case that doesn't add much bulk and completely covers the screen - very happy.

Hey all - Was watching the TV last night and thought I saw an ad for the Galaxy S3 for $838. I thought that was from Harvey Norman, but looking at their site it has them at $949.

Anyone seen that ad ?? I might be wrong about it being Harvey Norman.

If you could let us know if you have seen that ad and who the retailer is.

Hey - thanks for the reply. Just called the local Harvey Norman and they are $838.00 this weekend only. You can also HP them for 15 months deferred - so effectively 15 months interest free if you are paying for it immediately.

I support H N they always have the best HP deals.

If anyone was after the Allshare Cast Dongle, JB HiFi have them now. I got a $100 shopping voucher from work for passing my exams and put that towards it (was surprised to see it available at retail here when its only just became available at all). It's $160.

Only brief play so far, but seems decent. I expect it won't be great for gaming, since that can't be buffered at all, but for a browse and some video last night it worked a treat.
