$160 is 1/5 the price of the phone, what a rip. I daren't (haven't used that word for a while) imagine what the wireless charging will cost!

Claiming a opco hold up all updates clearly shows you don't know how the process works, There is even a blog post written by a Telecom NZ staff member on Geekzone I suggest you read it

Vodafone NZ have approved a MR for ICS 4.04 on the SG3 about 4 weeks back, I have it loaded on my handset and our customers are still waiting for it today,

Seemed to me the point kawaii was making was that (s)he feels telecom customers wait longer than everyone else, regardless of process, the customer experience does count for something! I don't know if it's a valid point.................

Yes, I don't know what Vodafone does and for me I'm really worried given that I am not a Vodafone customer - my main focus was on Telecom and receiving timely updates especially when viewed in context to security fixes. This is my main concern with moving to Android where as with Apple I receive updates straight from the source where as with Android there seems to be a lot of 'ping ball' between the OEM, carrier and Google.

Regarding johnr's point - I have been reading the article here:

And as others have pointed out, if AT&T, Telstra and New Zealand have more or less deployed the same sort of network then why is it that Telecom trails behind the other two? maybe I'm not privy to the complexities of what happens behind the scenes but there seems to be a lot of bureaucratic shuffling just to get a release out the door on time.

Don't ever run a Li-Ion battery flat, just charge it when you have a charger near and it's convenient. In fact, it will last a lot longer with shorter discharge cycles.

I charge mine when needed but have 2 anyway. Not sure if they have a memory issue but I've never let mine runout yet and seems fine.

I completely agree. Wouldn't have got it except for work springing for the first hundred.

The new Samsung TV's have it built in I think. I only just discovered the All Share works fine onto PS3. Was watching movies via the laptop I installed the software on without any issues what so ever. It's a good piece of software actually, much better than Media Player streaming which I dont bother with. So essentially non Samsung users should just download the file and use their PC Laptops as media servers.

PS3 also easily picks up my S2 and while being a little slow to buffer photos - works pretty well.

My friends think I am weird but after finding out how well it works I was watching some TV series on my phone in bed this morning. Just had the laptop open nearby and was using All Share to stream it to my phone no problems, high quality image. Surprisingly it's easy enough to watch laying down compared to having the laptop on the bed.

Guys is it me or just Vodafone NZ is very slow in releasing firmware update?
I've seen people with Telecom S3 getting updates and I'm still haven't had any yet. Still on. XALF2

No, it's not quite the same as the Allshare Cast Dongle, which will mirror anything on the phones display to the TV, rather than just media.

Yes it is harden and scratch resistant but it is not unscratchable. Protecting is better than repairing.
My colleague has an S3 and it already had a scratch on the screen after two weeks.
I'm sticking to "better be safe than sorry" phrase.

Completly irrelevant.
Sharpness has very little to do with hardness, and these stupid videos of people with knives and scissors are the work of imbeciles and idiots. They prove nothing and even normal glass will not scratch by a pair of scissors.
What they should test is sand, rubbed with a thumb on the screen. The same sand you sometimes find in your pocket. It will then scratch.

Is it possible for the carrier to offer an 'early adopters' update before it is officially provided by Samsung or does Samsung prefer to be the only distributor of updates?
