I think road map should be like this:

Samsung Korea --> carrier testing --> Samsung Korea --> Tentative Queue --> CBF --> JB4.1 --> Kies / OTA

You forgot to add Apple in there, wasting all Samsungs time.

I'm sure, since VFNZ are such big players in world telecoms :/, that as soon as their firmware is approved it is rushed on to the Samsung servers.....(not). The massive success of the S3 works against it in this case. There is finite server capacity, we are a minor market, so we are 'served' when they have the capacity to do it.
Thanks @JohnR for finally putting a time scale (10 days) on part of the process. Unless there is a requirement for confidentiality for commercial reasons, being open about *likely* time scales would go a long way to quieting a lot of the discontent being voiced. While there will always be people who take indications as hard and fast promises, the rest of us just want to know there is something happening.

Ahh you're right. Let me redraw this :)
Samsung Korea --> carrier testing --> Samsung Korea --> Tentative Queue --> CBF --> JB4.1 --> Kies / OTA
                                      |
                                      |--> Apple court case --> Carrier testing --> CBA --> CBF --> Wait for JB 4.1 --> Wait for SamKorea --> Low priority wait list --> Unknown
                                      |
                                      |--> tentative 10days --> Unknown --> Samsung Korea --> Unknown --> Kies/OTA
                                      |--> YAY iPhone5 release --> Carrier testing --> $$$$

:) With all due respect Mr. JohnR. This is only just for LOL.

I'm finding the Google restore pretty reliable after a reset. No need to use titanium now. Everything gets restored with no problems. In the past it would restore apps from way back but now seems to be only recent apps, maybe as of the last reboot?

Currently on pre-release XXDLI4 Jelly Bean. Very nice.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

Since when does google restore backup all your app data as well as the apk?

This

I always untick the Google backup\restore stuff after a factory wipe and use Titanium backup. Otherwise bye bye 10+ GB of Offline Playlists in Spotify :\

I turned on my phone this morning and was greeted with a pop-up window saying that there was an update available form my "Samsung Account".  I told it to go ahead and update, which it did, but after the update I didn't get anything else (I was expecting maybe something that told me what the update did or what was new).

Did anyone else get this?  Anybody know what it's about?

What carrier are you with? Go to Settings > About Device and see what Android\Baseband Versions you have

Never said anything about the app data. Just the apps Smile

I sometimes use Advanced Restore from CWM to restore apps and app data from the backup after a flash and wipe.

My phone is a 2Degrees phone but I'm with Vodafone.

Android version is 4.0.4
Baseband version is I9300XXLF2

I'm not sure what the update was, it just said it was an update to my "Samsung Account" and it didn't reboot the phone after the update like the last update I had did.  I do have a Samsung account set up, mainly so I can track the phone if it's stolen.

Doesn't sound like a system update to me. Usually System Update will say there is an update waiting for you. My guess is just Samsung App update? Or software on Samsung Apps store update.
