lchiu7: Google phones are great but it's interesting that Google don't seem to put too much effort in their cameras. I haven't seen picture taken with the N5 yet but it's supposed to have optical image stabilisation which would help with a sharper image but does little to help if the original image sensor etc. is not top notch.

How hard can it be to put a decent camera on their flagship device?

Just shipped out from YouShop about 15 mins ago. 4-6day wait + customs clearance, so hopefully a week?

I'd be interested to see what you pay, compared to buying from 2degrees/WHS. Can you post what the final cost is after customs/tax/shipping? More than anything I'm wondering if I'll kick myself for not pulling the trigger on the US youshop order when I had the chance.

Honestly when I ordered I was expecting the 2degrees price to be much higher ($799 not 699) - I don't regret ordering from the states as its still a great deal, but the difference in price is negligible.

Here's my price breakdown:

Nexus 5 (16GB, Black) $349.99 + Shipping $13.99
= $442.19 NZD charged to my card

YouShop = $17.25 + $6.00 for coverage (nzd)

WhatsMyDuty calculates $112.49 for gst + customs charges

All in all $577.93, and depending on how long customs takes I won't get it any earlier than the retail stores will, it doesn't have NZ LTE support (though it would have the option of working in NA if I went there for work, 3G in nz is much more usable than in the states from what I've read), and if there are any hardware issues fixing them would be a pretty big task.

I'm still considering selling (at the same price I paid) to a family member and buying a local version, but I'll see how I feel once I get it haha

If you have family or friends in the U.S. I would reckon it is waaaaaaaay cheaper if you send it through USPS priority flat rate boxes. I know a phone is an investment and it costs quite a bit but I have had numerous parcels, that had all sorts of stuff -> Computer parts (GPU, CPU, SSD, Motherboard (without its box) RAM), foodstuff, clothes, bulk costco stuff and more. Everything got through in about 4-5 days and sometimes even within 3. Average shipping price is about $40-$50 and my family would just put gifts, books etc. on the customs label. Nothing was damaged, nothing was opened and nothing was missing.

Just letting you guys know what I do most regularly throughout the year. Its risky but it has tracking pretty much all the way to your door.
