Well I have everything on and I use mine heavily, I push my emails (of which I get around 300 a day) and I can easily get 2-3 days.

I'm like you. I've got all the features turned on, receive about 30 texts a day and dozens of emails, make a few calls and play some games. I usually get about 2 days out of a full charge, which means I put it on the charger every second night.

I have cradles at home, in my car and at the office, so I don't see myself out of juice any time soon. Will be interesting to see how the battery copes in the US, since their signals seem stronger which means less work for the antenna, last time I went with the S2 I consistently got an extra day from my battery, some of which would have been less talk time, but mostly I think just improved signal. Mobile Broadband there is so cheap I never connected to WiFI

Sorry, I should have said that I'm just using the stock ROM that came with the phone, which is 2Degrees but on the Vodafone network.

Wholly heck I can't believe the battery life you guys are getting, wonder if mine is a faulty one? I struggle to get much more than 12 hrs on normal to light usage, just on Sunday I had a screen time of only 45mins and then phone was dead after 15hrs, of just sitting there.

I have two emails, one on push and get about ten a day. Then one on hourly check. Twitter checks once a hour, weather checks once every 8 hrs, no Facebook sync.

I'm happy with it, it lasts me from leaving home and getting home on normal usage, but two days for me is unobtainable haha

johnk: I'd take a backup and do a factory reset. Load no apps, and see what your baseline usage is like. What is your cell coverage like?

Yeah I'm lucky in that I work about 5 minutes from where I live and there are nearby cell towers so I always receive excellent signal strength. Maybe this means my phone doesn't have to use as much power when talking to cell towers?

John, if suffering battery problems, try putting phone in airplane mode for as many hours as you can cope with, then see how much longer your battery lasts, if its a massive improvment, then its likely to do with your cellular reception. Your story is much like mine - medium usage, and im always around 10-20% remaining battery by mid evening.

I'm in Hawkes Bay, relatively few cell towers serving a decent size geographical area. I think signal, whilst "acceptable to good", is poor enough to reduce the efficiency of the cell radio to the point of more drain than we would like. (Though I am not complaining - I think XT coverage in Hawkes Bay, and in general in NZ is rather good).

I use Tasker to automatically put my phone in airplane mode when I know I wont be using it, and it comes out for about 15 seconds every hour to check for messages by itself (and stays on for 15 minutes if it detects incoming texts, and stays on if Skype, phone app, streaming radio app, handcent, or several other apps are running in the foreground). I have managed to get another 20% run time doing this, but I think Tasker itself is preventing bigger gains by also eating battery doing the monitoring.

Im on stock ICS, XT purchased S3 on XT network. I felt I got better battery life of both CM9 and CM10. Went back to stock as I missed stock camera app and eye recognition for display timeout. When stock JB is released, I will compare to CM10 at the time (and maybe a few others based on this thread) and make a decision.

Superthreads like this totally suck, in my opinion. However, I can cope with them if I have to. But pleeeeeease, for the sake of everyone, please take things like bulk-buying of memory cards to a new thread somewhere. They add nothing to this already massive thread, would benefit many more people than just S3 users, and aren't S3 specific.

A link to 'group buy for microSD 64GB cards ~$xxUSD' would have been sufficient I think...

That's my understanding.

If you have good 3G connection in your area then you will use less battery than people who living in bad 3G reception area.

My area 3G is shocking and so there is less point for me to turn on Data connection all day. Sometimes I can't even get 3G locked pass 1 bar. I have Wifi at work and at home. So it is much better just to turn 3G off unless I'm on the road.

Power hungry apps:

1. Skype
2. FaceBook sync
3. Maps + Latitude friends and location base broadcasting
4. Dropbox sync

These are the 4 main power drain on my device. Which I disabled or minimised it's syncronisation.
This is on Stock ROM, wannaLite ROM has better deep sleep mode than stock ROM. Stock ROM always show that the phone is awake once every ~20mins or so.

Also on Jelly Bean 4.1.1 Poland's ROM, the modem seems to be quite power hungry than the ICS modem as well. My phone get quite warm when data mode turned on.

Only way i get 2 days or more is when i switch to GSM (no 3G) !

BTW i use stock ICS (carrier 2Degrees)

I just realised.. our carrier can be 2Degrees but it comes down to the signal strength in the areas that we spend most time.. coz then our phone antennas would struggle that extra bit in getting the signal on the phone the highest possible,..

I use viber probably thats what draining my battery. in battery app, its 2nd most app thats wakes my device often and first one is "android system".
