A couple of hours with Polish JB, and I must say the following are the things I have noticed the most:

(A very non-technical guide to Polish JB for those who haven't tried it yet).

1. Its smooth as silk (buttery even.... :-P).
2. Its feels nice and fast and responsive compared to stock XT ICS.
3. Despite point 2. it is not as fast and responsive as CM10 or Supernexus.
4. Some nice little features added in by Samsung over and above ICS, it's not just Project Butter, and a new name, its a new 'ROM' (in the sense that the developers have released more new features than AOSP 4.1 alone).
5. Yay for Samsung camera app.
6. Will give this a chance for a while, but might ultimately find myself back on CM10.

I started with an 8GB card in my SI, then upgraded to a 16GB when I bought my SIII, have offed that to the missus so I can get the 32GB.....long term it probably isn't going to be big enough, but suitable for my purposes now.

I am looking a getting a parallel imported black s3, as the none parallel imported ones only come in white and blue. Are there any downsides with buying a parallel imported one from a NZ retailer? Such as with warranty, power adopters, network settings on the phone. There isn't really much difference in price, but just don't like the blue or white.
Also if some of the s3's that are sold by some operators are optimised for their network, can you get those settings sent to the phone?

I thought I would hate a white phone. When I moved to iPhone 4S I took a leap and got white, and love it. No hesitation getting a white S3 when I came back to the light side.

The black ones look very nice indeed, but to the casual observer, I think a black one just looks like any other generic smartphone.

Red looks nice too...

Should be all good, just get a phone chuck a SIM in, and whatever ROM tickles your fancy. Network settings to get services working are easy to do, and you will get quick help in this thread if you need it.

The fast dormancy settings for XT (and specifically not for 2D I think) might be a headache by the sound of things, unless you flash the ROM of the operator you are going to use, but others here know far more about that than I do...

Parallel imported from a NZ retailer, I believe is required to sell with an NZ power plug (no adapter allowed), but if you import it yourself, it could arrive with a non-NZ plug. Cheap to buy an NZ power adapter to USB socket on TM.

I bought from Telecom NZ just so I wouldn't have to put up with any c**p if it was DOA or failed early etc. Paid a premium for that I guess, but upside was that I didn't have to muck around with it at all. SIM in and go.

Might as well get the LTE version then with 2GB of ram instead.

Okay, a weekend with Polish JB now, and its pretty awesome. I have had no lag, and to say it was slower than CM10 was barely fair.

Love the brightness control and auto checkbox on the notification screen (among many other things).

Battery life was great over the weekend, although lots of mixed use outside of normal, so I can't really judge it yet.

Just flashed Siyah kernel beta onto it last night, will see how that goes.

Siyah Kernel seems to make the Camera video recording gone buggy with ICS (Recording stopped after a few seconds and crash while recording, stopped recording completely, quality of Panorama mode dropped badly) and my dropbox stopped working. So for now I'm staying away but please post back your experience with the newer version of Siyah kernel.

Looks like the playtech ones have gone up in price :(. Will probably just buy local now from warehouse stationary, as they work out cheaper.

Easy to achieve if you turn off data connection when you're just on wifi network. Even you'reon wifi data still active in the background and draining battery . Also turn off some ba kgrounder apps like chat on etc..

Will be looking foward to its release but I never had any of the battery issues that some people seem to have without charging my phone at work I usually get home with at least 50% battery life at the end of the working day.
saying that my phone is usually on wifi all day due to the crap coverage at the office.

It's a full rom so it should be fine, I will trying tonight when I get home (downloaded last night but forgot to bring it to work with me) I wouldn't go back to ICS.

A swedish rom sounds a bit sexier than a polish rom IMO :-)

I'm not a complete idiot, I still have some parts missing.

Can someone with the Swedish JB ROM please check if any of the Open Mobile API stuff is on their phone? (You'll need root access) A search in root explorer finds these on mine (Stock 2D)
