Hey, finally on board with the Note 9 from PB today. Awesome device indeed!

With the trade-in deal, can someone confirm whether we need to send the charger back as well? I can't see anything in the FAQ that talks about this, so I am assuming just the phone itself is suffice?

I checked because you're right, it's nowhere to be seen on their T&Cs.

You only have to send the handset. You can keep the charger, cable, earphones etc.

Cheers - N

Just submitted my trade-in request. I can confirm it is just the phone itself that they need. They specifically mention on the confirmation screen that chargers, etc are not required.

Does it have to be a nz sourced phone you are trading in?  i.e. i have a dual sim s9+ from overseas, can that be used to trade in?

Yes, it does need to be a NZ sourced phone.

My Note 9 review:

I'm enjoying the free headphones. I've noticed no differences from the note 8 except I have more free space on it.

Cheers N

LOL. The shortest review FTW.

Update: Surely the cameras are - albeit - slightly better?

But it had a clicky but on top that does nothing and breaks if you are not careful? It's the big features that matter...

landcruiserguy:

@NickT are pb tech getting the new gear vr with the adaptor in stock?

Samsung NZ are investigating what the deal is with this.

Good to hear. I checked with Samsung and they knew nothing and just tried pushing the phone in the headset harder. I am slightly worried they broke the headset as they tried quite hard and i although i only tried once it didn't work with my s8+ afterwards.

The adapter will be free from the Samsung service Center. I'd recommend calling 0800 Samsung to facilitate this. This is designed to work with the R325 Gear VR headset.

@landcruiserguy you say Samsung tried to get this to work can you please PM me with where.

Ok update on this, I contacted them, the "purchased" phone needs to be from NZ however the "trade in" phone does not need to be, they will accept my s9+ dual sim from overseas at the quoted rate :)

^ That's interesting, thanks for the share. A bit of a surprise considering they would prefer people to buy all of their phones from NZ sourced supplies.

I got the courier bag the day after I applied. A very efficient process so far. I am sending my old phone off tomorrow.

Yes they do care that you purchased the new device from NZ suppliers, the trade-in they don't seem to care at all.  I expect that once they have the phone they will flash them and it will end up as a 1-day refub or sent overseas.

70% brightness.

Best i could ever do with note 8 was 5 hours, with typical more closer to 4.

That's amazing battery life. I couldn't even drain my battery to that level. Lowest I've been is at 40%
