MOBILE: Huawei P30
OTHER: Thinkpad E14 + Asus Vivobook + Intel NUC5i3 + A family of Raspberry Pi x 9 + Amazon Echo
wanghou168: I just ordered 2degrees huawei mediapad at the warehouse.
Cost $249 plus $6 shipping, in total $255
3g device, 7" portable enough for light browsing, emails and ebooks
The best thing is it is cheap enough
old dual core, comparing to the quad core nexus 7, which is the only downside I can see right now
But since I am only looking for a tablet for ebooks and something to bring with me on a trip, I would consider this a good buy
Only if the nexus 7 is a 3g device。。。。。。
technicaljoe: Work has kindly lend me a loaner iPad1 to play with. I'll use that to check out my usage scenarios while waiting for something better to show up on the market... Well, unless the pixelated iPad1 screen or the Apple way drive me up the wall first :)
Anyhow... Look what I found on Google about TF700...

Does that mean TF700 is coming to NZ soon?
NZtechfreak: In relation to the recommendation for the Sony tablets - I wouldn't go there.
+1 to the MediaPad at that price, seriously very good deal and with the 3G I may well take it over the Nexus at that price.
Actually maybe that should be +2 for the MediaPad, since I just grabbed one!
People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.
Keep calm, and carry on posting.

fatboy: ... strongly considering mediapad. Anyone cares to comment on real-life usability? Battery life, speed?

Here's my review - I perhaps didn't have as much time as I really wanted with it but they wanted it back before xmas. If you read through it, my definition of speed has changed drastically with the S3 on TW and now again with the S3 on JB

Yes, thanks, just read through that (didn't realize it has been out for a while :).
I'm doing a lot of pdf (scientific articles) reading and annotating, so was thinking of getting a tablet for a while.
Battery life is probably one of key factors for me. The battery capacities are very similar between Nexus7 (4350mAh) and Mediapad (4100mAh), so I'd expect to get similar longevity out of them? However GN7 claims 9h video playback, whereas you only got 3-4 hours out of Mediapad? I now it's claimed vs. real-life but ... Any suggestions?
