own3d: Hey you modding guys, do you think you could update your signatures to include what ROMs you have tried and why you stopped using.. like a history of your modding, include custom kernels too if you've changed that aswell as the ROM (maybe include what network you are using too)
So us guys who are about to mod, know what's tried and failed, or tried and proven.
We also know who to talk to for specific questions =)

I would not recommend that, things are moving so quickly now and people change roms for a variety of reasons and the reasons may or may not be valid for anyone else.

Ok maybe just the current daily driver that is stable enough for daily use?
You are right there there is many available and its changing so often. Would like to settle on something that is quite popular with lots of support.

till very early for JB as it is for ICS on S3. Indies Omega is always a good bet if you like a lot of mods and ability to make changes. siyah kernel is very popalr for those that like over and undervolting.

remix JB is ok but not a great fan of AOKP prefer Samsung based roms.

I'll probably go back to go back to foxhound shortly as I like his rom's, had the stock kernel for a while and got my best results battery wise but it is all very subjective.

LH4 the latest leaked JB is still unstable but able to be used daily but then again depends on what you want. Most say speed and battery life, duh go figure, even more flash and straight away say its 'smooth'etc and great battery life but think they haven't even let it settle so maybe the placebo effect and just liking being in the 'iun crowd' with latest rom

I recommended Remix JB then realized Bluetooth isn't working. I use a Bluetooth stereo headset daily so currently a dealbreaker. Are there JB roms out with working Bluetooth audio?

omega is pretty solid but think they were having issues with some people losing IMEI so make sure yours is backed up

Flashed Omega 14 (Jelly Bean) last night. All seems to be working, including camera and FM radio. 1 x FC on play store in 24 hours only. Initially adding contacts was crashing every time, but that was solved by a full wipe / factory reset.

Definitely a daily driver - and presumably only going to get better. Feels smoother than ICS, in keeping with project butter's promises.

Only minor fly in the ointment is you can't use the Touchwiz mods (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691957) which give you more icon spaces i.e. 5x5. Hopefully these will soon be made JB compatible.

Oh, there are now modded touchwiz launchers now at the thread I linked to above which work with JB.

I might have to mod my own though to avoid the scrolling wallpaper option.

I've read rumours recently of Jelly Bean being officially announced by Samsung next week at IFA in Berlin, but as I'm fairly newish to Android, I'm wondering that if those rumours are true and/or when it is officially released if it will be a matter of simply updating it straight away through Kies, or whether we'll still have to wait for our telco to approve it?

My S III is from 2degrees but I'm with Telecom so I'm reliant on 2degrees for updates, and we only got the first OTA update for the phone last week, whereas I understand Telecom and Vodafone released the same update a few weeks back, so just wondering if it'll be the same thing for when JB is released.

Why don't you flash the Telecom firmware via Odin and then you'll get their updates. That's what I've done. Had a VNZ phone from JB Hi Fi and have flashed the Telecom firmware over top. Works fine. Haven't had any issues at all.

You can get it from www.samfirmware.com and then you don't have to wait for the 2degrees updates.

You will have to wait for your provider to approve the update

The best way to ensure quick OTA update is to change CSC file to the BTU version which is a UK market, non carrier branded variant. This seems to be the first cab off the ranks when it comes to receiving updates. My bet is BTU users will see the update within 2 or 3 days of release if not earlier

Do you need to flash firmware to change CSU to BTU? All I could see is VNZ under the options.
