Ah, alright then, that would be a deal breaker for me, but again, probably not an issue for the masses, I guess the only real issue is the price point then. How'd the battery treat you?

I had to recharge it three times over two weeks. WiFi, Bluetooth and mobile data off as I didn't use those.

Wow, Ok perhaps my expectations of a modern camera are too low. I took some 15 sec exposures of the night sky last night, they were pretty good. Managed to get quite a few nice shots over 1/30th even without a tripod. Each to their own I guess. I would rate the images overall as being as good as a canon sx40.

For most uses the disparity in quality won't matter, considering normal people aren't pixel peepers and the shots will look perfectly pleasing on the Galaxy screen and at the reduced sizes at which most people look at their pictures virtually all of the time. If you zoom in and really compare the images to those from a similarly or even lower-priced standalone the differences are apparent - the dynamic range isn't as good, there is more chromatic aberration, more noise, and less preserved detail. To some the overall package will still be worth it.
