Just install CM10, you will have a better, faster experience. It's a pretty simple process, so if you have flashed a mobile before you will have no trouble, but I'm sure you can follow instructions.

That's an unofficial supported device for cm, so things like camera doesn't work that will kill a lot of interests. There are some leaked 4.0 to be there but again this will void the warranty.
Waiting to official 4.0 will be a good choice, after a year, just put on anything that's good to go with

3rd party Camera works fine, device is running 4.1...flashing back to official telecom is a breeze as you can just download it and reflash (there is a page with all the carrier software versions ready to go)

Just bought one of these from Harvey Norman today, I would like to update it to ICS but there doesn't seem to be any official updates (some people say there are?).

Would I be able to install the leaked ICS from Telecom as the guy in this thread says (last post) http://www.gpforums.co.nz/thread/459324/1/
And update OTA later? or will I need to flash back to stock first?

To get the ICS update, I understand you don't need a Telecom SIM in it. But what else do I need to do apart from having internet connection? Which other parts do I need to leave on sync?

You just need an internet connection. It probably won't show up for a few days to a week.

That's the explanation i got from motorola as to why only 2 of the 3 devices we own are able to download the update:

Please be advised that the Android ICS software update is being released in batches. The phone will receive the software update notification once it is queued to download the said update. Alternatively, you may provide us the phone's IMEI so that we can forward a request to the concerned department for follow up. Rest assured everything will be taken care of and we will keep you posted as soon as the update becomes available.

Got this phone yesterday from the warehouse for $199. Telecom bundle, free sim.
No ICS OTA update, so called Telecom to check, and they told me Telecom "does not support" ICS for this handset, so no OTA until further notice!?

I have a Telecom Motorola Atrix2, bought earlier this year and running 2degrees sim card since day one. I received ICS update OTA prompt week before Christmas, I'd checked for update several times earlier that day and nothing. Yesterday got one from the Warehouse for mum, which hasn't updated yet either.

Good thing with update, it doesnt wipe anything so no reinstalling apps/settings etc. Battery life is crap for first few days then settles down (mine is same or better than was before running 2.3.6), I've also had no degradation of battery life after 9 months or so which is pretty good. Overall the phone is really good, especially for the money. I have never been able to get PXT working properly though, even with all correct 2dm settings in place, but this is only an issue for people that won't use whatsapp etc. One of my favourite bits with the update is people able to choose the focus point in the camera, least favourite is no longer can have ring/notification volume linked, they're only separate now. Smartactions is cool too

The update will just roll through in good time :)

edit: also, check the telecom facebook page. i asked when the update was being released and reply was that they had approved it and was now with motorola to distribute or something along those lines. i received update same day i asked them

So cheap cause they're still on GB 2.3.6?? If I remember correctly...

Almost got one of these mid year - but it doesn't have a lot of support (custom support) i.e. not may custom roms etc.

Still I grew up on Moto ^^
