1eStar: I was waiting for the note 8 replacement to materialise. I gave up when I saw the lg 8.3 g-pad for $260. The only thing lacking for me is the s-pen. Kit kat is more of a pain than anything else. It removes sd writing permission for downloaded apps. It really cripples the system. There is also no access to core system process to ascertain wakelocks for example. I wouldn't be bemoaning the lack of kitkat.
That is kind of why I posed the question. When (and if) the update does arrive it would be good to be forewarned about any pitfalls as well as advantages to accepting it. I run KK on my transformer and it seems to access the SD okay. Mind you it is rooted with a custom ROM. If it means having to root the device to get the thing running properly that wouldn't be the end of the world. There is the issue of the additional security that Samsung added in the form of KNOX framework. I have no experience with modifying Samsung devices.
As far as I could tell, the SD writing limitation is for an app to access another app's folder on the SD. It should still be able to access its own.
