Wade: Has hardware spec been confirmed?

It would be very lucky for the consumer if the GE rom could simply be installed on any old i9505, surely google/samsung have got some form of protection albeit most likely not enough to hold back the dev's from making it happen :P

In terms of hardware spec, I'm afraid it is not good news.

From a 3G point of view, it supports WCDMA bands 2, 4 and 5. That means 1900, 1700/AWS and 850. Telecom uses WCDMA 850 and 2100. Vodafone and 2degrees use WCDMA 900 and 2100.

In short, if the rumor is true, the SGS4 Google Edition can only be used on half of the Telecom 3G network, and no Vodafone or 2d at all.

And the LTE bands (2, 4, 5 and 17) supported by the phone is useless in NZ too. I am no expert on this things, so I could be wrong.

Telecom is 850MHz with 2100MHz used only for capacity. The 50/50 split is indirect. Actually you should consider Telecom as only 850 MHz for all purposes.

As noted in the comments in that article, the table only shows what's been tested by the FCC. As the US doesn't use 2100 that wasn't tested, but it's almost certainly there.

T-mobile use 2100 as a part of AWS bands..

I believe so, its the Snapdragon in the US which is what we have here.

Nope. NZ currently uses band 3, with 28 planned. That linked model supports 4 and 13.
