Perhaps, but why waste the money on things like a touchscreen that will only waste battery when you already have an S3?

What line of work are you in? Perhaps a rugged phone would be a better use of the budget.

Or even just a decent non-smart phone that is going to last the distance (and the day).

Many of the 'smart phones' in your price range suffer from appalling battery life, are slow (because they are low on RAM) and really have no spare internal memory to do anything useful anyway.

Is perhaps another option to port your current number to your work plan, and just use it with your S3?

Developer, good points. I used to own a Nokia 1616 and the battery used to last for a week without any problems. Since the company has a data plan, it might be handy to have a smart phone to check things online if required etc. They gave me the option to port my current number to theirs..but I want to keep things as a separate entity hence due to policy.

If you had to look up something online for work, would you actually use the inferior phone, or would you just use the S3 anyway because it's faster, bigger and will likely get you what you want faster.

Have you had a look at the company plan? I've done separate phones, as well as using my work phone for personal too.

The last company I was with in NZ had a really good plan. I had to pay for my personal usage, but the company got such good rates it was much cheaper than having my own separate plan (And not carrying two phones).

Nowadays I have a sperate phone for work. Mostly because the company I work for now has a no BYOD policy, but even if they didn't, I would still have a sepeate phone because I make a lot of personal international calls from my own mobile, and that probably wouldn't go down well with the boss. (And I don't see the bill to sort out the split).

If you can get a better deal on your work plan, you might be able to save money and only have one phone. Having two really is a PITA.

No not yet, according to them it's a verbose plan and I am able to use it for my personal calls/text/data as long as I don't go over the limit. I just don't prefer to mix work phone /w personal phone.

i so wish there was a high end phone with dual sim card slot, that way i could have both personal and work in 1 phone but keep number different etc.

I've had two phones for six months as I lost my phone and needed an immediate replacement before getting a better one when I had the time to be more selective. I've continued to use them both as they have different ergonomic features such as the screen sizes. Both are synced so I can use them interchangeably if I need to. I also have access to both Vodafone and Telecom networks which comes in useful at times. More often than not it's another family member who 'needs' to borrow one.
