Reason why, I almost bricked my phone last time. Not going to happen again. I might buy a windows 8.1 phone. And just use it for calls and texts.

That's correct, just to clarify the first link had XXUEMJ5 and XXUBMH1 as a single package file containing modem.bin and NON-HLOS.bin (GSM and LTE modems respectively). You would then flash MK9 over top of this, it would overwrite the MJ5 modem as the MK9 package only contains modem.bin.

I hope that makes sense. Let me know how you get on.

(For reference, GSM modems are modem.bin files, LTE modems are NON-HLOS.bin files).

My first experience of Android was a borrowed S3, then an S4. When I got my wife a Moto G with plain Android it seemed ugly, and the lack of basic things like effective one touch toggles made it slow and cumbersome. There are things I don't like about touchwiz, like apps being split and the downloaded apps not being sorted, but I can live with it for the upsides.

The Moto G should have one touch toggles, Pull the notification bar down with 2 fingers or look for the button

Doesn't work well, or at least not easily. You pull down with two fingers and tap the button and it takes you to wifi or 3g settings. I think push and hold may work, but I don't use it often and forget.

So far so good. It shows as being on 4.4.2 now, I haven't tested phone yet but in general it seems to be working on Wanam. I'll keep playing tomorrow, but it looks positive :) Thanks for your help UB :)

I had it restore everything from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2. Should I have done that, or should I have selected just my user apps so as not to put a load of crud into the new OS?

If I wanted to try again would I just go into recovery and do a factory reset then set it up again?

Did you use titanium? That can sometimes cause issues (force close etc.) between versions. I found out the hard way going from 4.2 to 4.3 on s4.

Yeah, titanum. I think I have it sorted now, just restored user apps and data, the rest I'll do manually. Bit of a pita to be honest, and time consuming.

So I updated to 4.4.2 last night OTA but whats in it for me ?? , I mean whats new and noticeable I can use ??. I have switched over to hangouts for my sms's etc and to be honest I don't mind it but the only thing that bugs me is no badge on the icon saying if I have any unread messages.
I do quite like the the white top status bar though.

I just flashed Telecom via odin, Not rooted yet. Not sure if I can find a way to root it without making the knox 0x1 like i did with 4.3

You know you can change this right? Jump into the app drawer, hit menu and change how the apps are organized. It defaults to a stupid way.

Anything on your google account that's downloaded automatically is in the standard area. There's no discernible logic behind it.
