I hadn't previously seen the whitepaper, which list LTE support *properly*. They need to ditch frequencies and stick with bands. I'd lean towards trusting the whitepaper specs.

Wow, Sony have done a great job here with the Z3 Compact. Very well specd and some how got a 4.6 inch screen onto a phone almost the same size as the iPhone 5s. The IPhone 6 with a 4.7 inch screen looks huge by comparison. I think Sony have taken the "one handed phone" crown away from Apple with this. The ability to add up to 128 Gb torage (ie 144 gb total) is really cool as well. Brilliant, brilliant job, this could be my next upgrade and first Sony phone for over 8 years, and a replacement for my iPod classic which is no longer being made, all at the same time.

I really love the Z3. I have a Z2 and yeah it's a pretty incremental upgrade on the surface but in the details, they made some pretty good steps. Not worth an upgrade for most people but I probably will because I waste my money like that. I think they've perfected the design now with those simple rounded sides and those new colours. Even looking at my Z2 here, it looks somehow dated in comparison with the two-tone sides. Only thing I'll miss is the notification LED strip that they've removed.

Here's a list of lesser advertised features of the Z3 series: http://blogs.sonymobile.com/2014/09/11/333-things-you-didnt-know-the-xperia-z3-series-could-do/

NikT: Do you know if and when the Z3 is coming to Vodafone and in what colour/s? Any idea of cost? I know Sony confirmed the Compact as a Spark exclusive but I'm interested in the regular Z3 (particularly Copper).

Both the Z3 and Z3 Compact are Spark exclusives for the NZ market to the best of my knowledge.

I'm hopeful we'll get a future Compact variant as there are a lot of folks who want them! That said, there should be something else in the high-end Android space with a smaller form factor before year's end. :)

Yeah I'm sold on both. Off to Oz late October so hoping for a release there of both by then.

So very close to pulling the trigger on a D5833 on eBay though.

Thanks for the reply. Pretty sad about the Compact being a Spark exclusive. I was already aware of the fact but I just think that with a little bit of marketing, it would be such a massive seller for either network.

The Z3 being a Spark exclusive I can understand. It isn't a massive step on from the Z2 so VF probably can do without it. Spark will probably do alright with it.

I'll be importing my Z3 in copper ASAP then!

Got my Z3 in copper yesterday. Hooooly crap it is nice.

The design, even though similar to the Z2, is such a leap forward. The simplified sides just make all the difference and it feels so much more premium. The copper looks so great in real life and the phone feels like it has lost weight, feeling more like the original Z than the slightly chubbier Z1 and Z2.

On the inside there aren't many changes over the Z2 but there are small details that count like the phone knowing when to auto-rotate so it doesn't rotate the screen if you're lying on the couch, etc. I have yet to really put it through its paces but it seems slick as expected.

Got the red, or orange, compact. Similarly the physical improvements from the z1c are small but appreciable. I like the new rubber edges, and the glass back is a welcome improvement.

I'm also very keen on the Z3 compact. I almost bought the Z1C but 4.3" was to small and the bezels to large, but they seem to have nailed it with the Z3C. Waterproof, nice design, decent hardware specs, dedicated shutter button (so hard to come by on android) and the best improvements: front facing stereo speakers, and best battery life on any mobile device currently out.

If I go for one of these, which model to go for? model# D5803 & model# D5833.

2G Network
D5803 & D5833 - GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900

3G Network
D5803 - HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
D5833 - HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100

4G Network
D5803 - LTE 700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600
D5833 - LTE 700 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600
D5833 - LTE 2300 TD-LTE

Some one said in the other Z3C topic that they'll both be fine but the D5833 will be better.
