So what is a 'free-for-life' subscription exactly?  Is it just a basic free account (which anyone can register for?), or a free premium account, with no ads, extra functions etc?

Oh, 1123rd in the list.  Unless I spam my friends.  I'd like to keep my friends as friends...

So how exactly are they playing this?

To celebrate we're giving away 1000 FREE lifetime copies on a first in first served basis.

"first in first served" should mean just that, and not "best 1000 spammers".

I agree. I went from 60 something to over 200. Still below the 1000 however they also said as soon as they hit the 1000 they would close it. They have not. I would not be happy if I moved from 900 to over 1000 because of them not closing it off.

Still haven't heard anything and they definitely are well past the 1000 mark.

A little disappointing, really. Would make for a pretty cool product. I tried their app on iOS and really quite liked it, although, I thought $25-30 a year for voicemail was a bit steep. With that said, I did see they lowered the price on it recently a little. I wonder if the Android version will be priced differently as with most cross-platform apps these days.

Edit: Sham was a bit harsh, but still.

Weird why some people have dropped so much. I went from 80 something to 98. I signed up the day after it was posted here. Have now been at 98 for well over 1 week. Site currently says 1025 people behind me. Only referred 1 person, that was my wife.

If you can't laugh at yourself then you probably shouldn't laugh at others.

Just checked, and I'm 97. Hi, neighbour! And it said 1033 after me; so sign ups are obviously pretty slow now.

And I know I shouldn't grumble about not receiving [yet?] something that was free in the first place, but...

{grumbling under his breath}

Yeah, trying not to sound unappreciative, but if they call for urgency to sign up and first-in-first-serve, then go quiet, it's not a good look

Didn't the original iPhone launch with a feature similar to this? "Visual voicemail" according to a bit of Googling? What ever happened to that? Seems to me like something that should've taken off across all smart phones.
