This will probably be the only Flagship Samsung phone I won't own. I'll wait to see what the Note brings.

I believe there is talk the fingerprint scanner will be round the back. Good for things like authorising payments or unlocking but not so good if the phone is in a mount. LG G phone users probably the best position to comment on that. Glad to see by the mock-up that the phone is no taller than the S7, thereby still being pocket-able.

The move is reduce bezels is great as screen size increases, but phone footprint doesn't. I'd prefer a bigger screen on my S7, but it is the perfect size for pockets, so I'll have a win with my next phone. Now that Sammy (and to lesser extent LG) have gone near bezel free, other manufacturers will have to follow suit. I'm looking at you Pixel 2 (-;

Render of what the S8 will look like in hand. If the button icons are real, I don't like them. Is Samsung looking to move the phone UI a more unique skin?

Seeming more likely this will be the unit, if not certain? I don't understand why they're so stubborn with their button placement, back button should be left side. But soft buttons are a win IMO.

What's the compelling reason for an S7 owner to upgrade to S8? Coz in my case I don't see any.

I finally figured out how Samsung name their devices.

The S stands for Support and the number after it is how many weeks of support you'll get after a new model is released.

So, once the S8 is released, S7 users will get 7 weeks of support before being forgotten about by Samsung.

Though you might get the odd security patch lobbed over the fence (Depending on what region, CSC and tongue orientation you have.)

YMWV. I had a Sony Z2 with on-screen buttons prior to my S7. I loved it, and have never adjusted fully to the S7's physical home button, so will be happy to see it go.

Bigger screen, smaller bezels, but it's a very expensive upgrade just to pick up these. Especially if rumours that the S8 will be the most expensive Galaxy to date are true.

It will also be interesting as to whether Touchwiz in the S8 is more like stock, or less like stock. I reckon the latter, and, if so, one less reason to go for the S8.

I have a S7 and none of the 2017 phones announced to date warrant an upgrade from my S7. Waiting on Pixel 2.

Had the same phone.. hated it.. kept hitting the button when trying to do things and ended up at home screen..

At least with the physical button I knew it was there..

I have a Huawei Nexus 6P and quite like the fingerprint sensor on the back, it's easy to unlock the phone with the index finger of the hand I'm using to hold the phone. GSMArena are listing it as using USB C which I'm hoping may mean a few more decent (and properly spec'd) chargers and cables coming onto the market and bringing the price down. They also list a rumoured release date of 21st April.

I moved to S7 Edge after Note 7

If the they offer a big discount deal to loyal customers who stuck with Samsung after Note 7 (there were rumors last year - hope they turn out to be true), then I will probably get the S8 and the S7 Edge would go on Trade Me

I will hate myself for it in 2 months time but I will look at getting the S8 as well.  I love my gear s2 and gear fit 2 both of which work better if you have a samsung phone.

The only thing that would stop me from getting one is a price of $1800 for s8

Totally expecting it to be around 1600
