If you read the post in the geekzone android forum entitled "Google assistant rolling out in NZ" (which I already suggested some posts back) it actually tells you how to get assistant running. Which then allows "OK Google" to start Google Keep as your verbal note taker.

But quite frankly people like myself quickly become despondent when we offer advice to help your request and then you turn around and say "oh I can't be bothered" If you want to kill the enthuasism of this vibrant geekzone community then keep it up.

lNomNoml:

Give Smart Voice Recorder a try.

I use that, but it's not voice activated, thanks.

Ok, after setting my P9 to English AU, clearing the Google App cache/whatever, and clearing the Google Play cache I got Google Assistant about a day later from Google Play. It replaces the Google App.

I turned it on, set it up, trained it's voice recognition. I turned on "always listen".

It only works when the screen is on. When it works, you have to be about 1 foot from the microphone speaking very clearly and loudly.

So all in all, it seems like a good toy, but it's not particularly useful.

Thanks for all the advice leading me that way, maybe in the future or on a different phone it'd work well.
