I purchased a Nothing Phone. I am enjoying the experience.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I like the Google offerings but I am nervous about their connectivity going forward into an Aotearoa without 3G. Due to disabilities connectivity is vital for me.
You needn't worry. Pixels 6 and up support VoLTE and VoWiFi in NZ on all networks. These pixels for a while now have had carrier profiles for all three networks.
Doesn't stop mobile operators from sending scaremongering messages in an attempt to convince people to buy a new phone. My phone works with both VoLTE and VoWiFi and I'm still getting the "Your phone uses 3G" messages suggesting I purchase an "officially supported" phone.
Spending way too much time and money on Unraid servers!

Happy owner of a Pixel 9A on Kogan Mobile. Both VoWiFi and VoLTE are working perfectly on GrapheneOS and were also working on the original Google ROM.
Can I ask you, where did you get the P9A from?
From Dick Smith's NZ webstore

Interesting that you are getting these messages. You're on One / Kogan, right?
I have never had any message from Spark / Skinny re my Pixel - and if I pop my phone into their checker it tells me the following . . .
Last year I got an email from One NZ telling me that my phone will die with the 3G shutdown. My device is a late model iPhone purchased from a One NZ store, and all of my previous devices have also been iPhones.
It seems that they're just spraying these out randomly.

Well could be worse than a text message. My partner's Pixel 4 (I think) got bricked from an update for battery safety. So that was annoying.

I can't speak directly for One but I do know that other Telcos are working hard on this so I suspect they are too. If you are concerned you could try something like Spark's IMEI checker https://www.spark.co.nz/online/shop/mobile-devices/3g-shutdown#checker
EDIT: Was your SIM in an older phone when the email came thru?
One NZ say TXT 3G to 550 and they will also tell you.

VoLTE may not be enabled on the plan. You should confirm this now while you can with a quick call with wifi off and mobile data on. If it drops to.3G, you'll need to get it enabled. Front line and retail can do this. By default it should be on unless you've come from a super legacy plan OR it's been disabled for whatever reason.
If you remain at 4G or even 5G. Then the checker thinks your TAC is wrong and I know someone who can fix that (of course this is not me saying I work at one, I just had a recent conversation with the people involved).
Ramblings from a mysterious lady who's into tech. Warning I may often create zingers.

Yes, it's a lot of phone for not much money. I got one before Xmas. Great cameras, running MagicOS 10 (Android 16) and was roaming in Fiji and USA recently and VoLTE roaming with OneNZ and 2D was working no problem.

Thanks for the heads up. I just tried placing a call and the indication in the top right corner remained on '5G'. I just received a single notification a few months ago and nothing since, so I assume it was just an administrative error. My SIM was in my iPhone 13 Pro from 2021 to 2024 and in my iPhone 16 Pro since 2024, so I there is no plausible possibility that my SIM has been in a non-compliant handset in recent history.
Perhaps import one of these - REDMI Note 15 Pro+.
