If you want one from Clove I think the idea would be to place the order then wait.
These things ar ein high demand and It looks like they are selling faster than they can get them in.

Oh, and going back to notebook city, despite them telling me they had them in stock at time of ordering
after 2 weeks no sign of it, everytime I rang I got told the supplier had sent them but they had not arrived.
They could not get any tracking info on thier order.
Also turns out they are sourced from Hong Kong and are not unbranded as they told me when I ordered....
They said "our guys reflash them here"
So, with that I canceled the order.
The only good thing I can say about them is they refunded me fast.

Went ahead and ordered a HTC Desire from CloveUK last week.

Considered Mobicity and Eking but after some furious googling decided to play it safe and source one from the UK.  The Mobicity and Eking models come flashed with Asian ROMs and some users have reported issues updating to 2.2.  The CloveUK models are apparently unbranded so you don't have to wrorry after flashing a generic ROM to get rid of Telco-specific apps you can't use.

When I ordered it (on Aug 11) CloveUK was still advertising new stock arriving on the 12th.  I see they've since sold out.  I haven't received confirmation of my order yet (except for the security check) so I'm thinking I may have missed out on that lot,  I see new stock isn't due until September now.

I found a voucher code online to use for CloveUK as well.  It is only for 5 Pounds but still better than nothing.  You use it when you check out.  The code is: HTCFLY5500.  It is valid for any HTC purchase over 50 Pounds.

@ HYPERThalamus  - you are soooo patient!
I'm obviously a "instant gratification" kind of person as I want my phone ASAP!

Absolutely loath to pay $1000 from Parallel Imported though.  I see that they are out of stock again now too - ridiculous situation!

I too have had to go the clove route... and also ordered on the 11th lol.
Unless you want a dearer branded phone, I can't really see any other option rather than Clove....

Got mine desire from expert info. $854 went and picked up tho from waikato, because I didn't trust them after reading reviews. GladI did because the seem very dodgy. Customer service is appalling. Told me my ph was unbranded but when I updated to froyo all kinds of trouble ph was obviously branded. Had to learn how to make a gold card pretty quick. Was freaking out. Expert were no help at all. Was no way I was gonna send it back. To those c#*%s. fixed now by myself every time I update I have to use a gold card. Long story short I wouldn't trust expert info as far as I could kick them.

Sent from my htc desire

I ordered mine from Clove at the start of August and got it last week. Really pleased with the phone and Cloves service. Cost about $820 for the phone and 2 cases.
As soon as I got it and set it up it wanted to update to 2.2 and it worked perfectly.
I recommend Clove too. The only issue is the stock, Desires are selling fast!

Apparently, according to a few friends who have Desires, Nexus Ones and Galaxy S's, you can replicate the Sense UI interface on any phone with an app called LauncherPro.

I'm really keen on getting either a Samsung (just because of all the reviews and recommendations, even though I don't trust their hardware) or a Desire (HTC is whipping out some excellent stuff, Desire is gorgeous). Waiting on VF as I've heard they'll be announcing the Galaxy S soon.

Did you get hit with GST?  Didn't think the exhange rate was that reasonable last month.

I'm estimating about $880.00 (incl. GST) with the current exchange rate.

Looks like Clove don't actually process the payment until they have the product in stock so I'm anxiously watching the exhange rate going up and down over the last few days.

Nah I didn't pay GST, I got it sent to a business address, not sure if that helped.

Fingers crossed then that I don't get charged either.  Got mine sent to work too.

I've seen the topic of GST hotly discussed on other threads.  Some people seem to get hit while others don't.  Seems Customs are sometimes just tardy and let it through but then follow up a week or so later asking for more or your hard-earned moolah.

The trend I have noticed is if you request DHL, you get charged GST.
If it's royal mail, your don't (at least i don't recall anyone saying they had)

You can ask them to process the payment straight away if you want it to go through when the exchange rate is good. Worked for me :)

Hey, for those of you who ordered your phones from Clove - did you have to buy the separate International MicroUSB Traver Charger from their site or did they provide a converter?

You'll have to buy your own pin adapter/converter. Dick Smith have them.

Grab an adaptor from Bunnings or Mitre 10. They're cheaper.
