Does the X5 not automatically scale the cpu?

Ouch!
Purchased an X5 on Saturday - turned on at 2pm and ran the battery flat (from about a half charge). Charged from 11pm until about 8am and used the phone to send text messages, listen to music and download app store stuff. While at home I was connected to Wifi- but no data.

Turned off the phone when I went to bed, the phone turned on at 6,30am to give me my alarm.
At 7am I went out the door with about 75% charge. At 8.30 I took the phone out and noticed it was turned off.

Turned on and 'your battery is empty'

Say WHAT!
This is not looking good.

I solved my issues by following all the little tips in this discussion and now my battery lasts all day, and I use it ALL the time, tweeting, foursquaring, texting and calling, as well as the odd game of Angry Birds and browsing the internet.

Juice Defender is really good, also turning off GPS, turning down the screen brightness and only having wif-fi on when you're using it helps.

Glad to hear you have had a positive outcome. I'm a pretty big believer in JuiceDefender and can't live without it.

Tweaking and tuning my own X5 at the moment so this thread is invaluable.

Does Juice Defender conflict with Advanced Task Killer?

I don't like the idea of task killers, theres numerous articles on why they arent needed on android. If you want to be a little more aggressive on killing apps when they arent being used, look up "autokiller" which modifies androids system settings for task killing.

Hi Guys,

I have a samsung and was after some tracking down found that swype was eating my battery in half a day. Changed keyboards and back to two days. Maybe someone should disable swype and see how they go?

Cheers.

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

So, been using Juice Defender and Juice Plotter over the last few days.
Tuesday - got down to 30% by 6pm. Was connected to Wi-Fi at work on and off and sent a few text messages. Home at 11pm, charge at 12am
Wednesday - disconnect from charge at 7am, used music functions and camera while on a road trip to Invercargill for work. Down to 20% by the time I got home at 7pm. Charge at 11pm
Thursday - normal day at the office with not much use, but battery empty at 9.30pm (last few hours connected to the home Wi-Fi but doing nothing has ramped up the usage.

Really confused by this. My iPod Touch can use no battery for days while connected to Wi-Fi at home so why does an Android device need to use battery?

Because even though nothing visible is happening, lots of apps will be running in the background updating themselves and checking email all the time.

But I don't have any email accounts setup, and I have turned off background data and automatic updating.

Got facebook or twitter running? any other social network things?

News/weather apps?

Plus the market does auto updates off apps all the time when on wifi which can drain battery.

I have found setCPU to give me a huge boost in battery - far more than keeping wifi switched off while im not using it.

Plus if you don't have email set up why have wifi on when it doesn't need to be?

No social networking, no data gathering widgets. Wifi is set to sleep and background data is off.

Still using an iPod Touch, it is always connected to my home Wifi without any data movement. My X5 in theory is configured the same way - wifi on, no data movement but leaches battery life with the iPod Touch just sits there and battery life stays rock solid.
