Foo:
The reason I ask is that the battery on the Acer A500 seems to last a few days after a full charge. It can only be charged via AC - USB won't cut it.
Hmmm, some interesting findings:
I finished running the device down last night to 8% (a long session of Angry Birds, all in the name of research) and then switched it into flight mode for overnight. Approx 8hrs later it still had 8% - great to know that flight-mode on the device uses squat-all power on standby. I continued to run the battery down to 4% (more Angry Birds), then switched the tablet off and began charging on my laptop's USB 2.0 port...
4 hours later it was showing just 28% - and when I switched the tablet on to confirm the percentage it had a little red X next to the charge meter, probably indicating that there wasn't sufficient current to charge and power the device from a single USB port (100mA typical, 500mA max I believe). At that rate a powered-off full charge would take almost 16 hours - not something you can do overnight!
The supplied wall charger charges at a rate of 2A over USB however, so charging is much quicker, I haven't confirmed but I think it is more like 6 hours for a full charge in this case, probably more if the tablet is on while charging.
Anyway, after much umm-ing and ahh-ing I've decided to sell it simply because it doesn't support USB peripherals and HDMI-out yet, though I suppose the dongles/cables will come. You can find it on TM, link is also in the F/S forum if interested.
