Oh, and draging them across the screen is like using an eraser - leaves a rubbery trail. Stupid idea those things.

Just noticed this phone and all it's other Huawei equivalent variants are on sale at the Warehouse now for $150. There's one for each major player, Vodafone, Telecom and 2degrees. All include a sim pack I believe.

For that price I came very close to buying one just to get the capacitive screen over the 845's resistive screen.

I think the 2 telecom deals at the moment are the best.

The optimus one for 179 at noels is a great deal - 3.2" screen makes a big difference.

The defy for 349 at noels is an amazing deal too.

The capactive screen is absolute rubbish on the 858. I would highly recommend getting the Galaxy Mini for $199 if you don't want to get incredibly frustrated.

Demo model can be seen at Sylvia Park vodafone I think.

DSE has the U8150 for $109 in it's latest mailer, which I think is basically the same phone as the X1 and 858 etc.

Not shown at that price online yet though:

Highly recommend you get a phone like the P500 Optimus One - might cost you $50 or so more but you'll have a phone that you will enjoy using.

When there was hundreds of dollars difference when you jumped to the 3.2" screens these budget devices were great, but now that there is very little in price between the 2.8 and 3.2" devices I highly recommend you go for the bigger device.

I think that kind of answers question 'Any reason why I shouldn't get one?' . I came to the same conclusion -  a year ago I would've bought the 858 / Ideos X1 but not when an extra $50 can now get you so much more.

$189 right now at the the warehouse

So $80 more, but I agree it looks the business given the higher resolution and screen size.
