i dont see that much benefit other than ICS (at the moment, some apps didnt work quite well on ICS anyway)

I see the phone is now available in the US but alas (since I was planning to get one on my next visit) it's only for Verizon. Apart from being CDMA and LTE there are some other differences apparently between this one and the GSM version. The battery is larger, the phone is a bit thicker and because of some unresolved issues with Google, Google Wallet is not on the phone.

Hopefully by January the GSM version might be available there for the other carriers so giving Verizon a month or so of exclusivity.

Well I took the plunge and bought one after reading heaps of reviews.  I was concerned it might be too big and bulky.  I did have a Galaxy S2 when they came out and felt it was too big. It wasnt comfortable to hold and just didnt sit right in the pocket.  WELL this Galaxy Nexus may be big but it is comfortable to hold, sits well in the pocket, screen is awesome and even sound out of the speaker is excellent.  After wasting heaps of money trying to find a phone that suited ME just right I have finally found the perfect phone for ME.  Battery life so far is good, much better than my Sensation. After downloading different apps, having a 10 minute phone call, watching a 2 hour movie and trying different song etc and just mucking around like you do with a new phone, went to bed after 10 and half hours with still 55% battery remaining.  I love it

I am currently in the US and it seems like the 16gb GSM HSPA+ version is available through various websites.

If I were going to buy one to bring back, I assume it is this version and not the Verizon 32gb CDMA model I want?

Also, has anyone tried the galaxy nexus on 2degrees? If I were to get one, would I need to change providers to Vodafone?

Thanks for your help!

I had a look at the Galaxy Nexus yesterday. Best Android handset I've looked at yet... impressed. Hopefully Samsung will be bringing it out in NZ soon so I can try one out for at least a week or two.

Yeah +1 for Clove. I ordered mine from there and had it a week later.

It's a heck of a phone. I didn't think there would be much of an upgrade coming from the SGS2, but overall it's a solid bit of kit with one heck of an OS.

+2 for Clove... GOt mine as well from them in their first shipment and it was here in a week. Great device. It was too thin for my hand though and I always felt like I was going to drop it when I picked it up but a cheap TPU cover for the pack of the phone has fixed that and increased my confidence in putting it in pockets etc.

I have to admit that the OS seems featureless after coming from Sense on an HTC Desire but I'll get over it.

I used to use the built in countdown timer all the time for example when cooking but there's nothing built in, in vanilla ICS

Cheers - N
