Why not an iPhone?
• Smaller
• Lighter
• I can carry and use a spare battery.
• I can move media to and from the device as USB mass media (no iTunes)
• I can tether (WiFi hotspot) with a single press (WiFi Widget)

What I use iOS for

• Apple Remote app

No discernible difference

• Facebook
• iMDB

I'm not Android nor Apple biased, the Ray works for me, and maybe others, I hope this helps.

Also, the Xperia Ray gets better reception in our area than it's predecessors. I can't say for sure that it has better radio characteristics, just that it anecdotally works better at my home.

VF Xperia Ray customisation seems to be limited to setting the default home page on the browser (which is still called a browser, unlike XY world on my S2). There are no logos or start screen and no shocking red theme.

Ive been having similar thoughts to you in that my iphone is too big for me. Do you know if the ray is getting ICS?

Would also like to hear any more thoughts you have on why its good or bad, frustrations, likes etc.

Where did you get it from and how much (if you dont mind me asking)

I love how easily everything works on an iphone but it annoys me how big it is in my pocket.

I paid $599 at VF Broadway, Auckland (standard pricing at the moment).

I use out-of-the-box ROM for all my phones (just to keep my feedback in context)

Meizu MX is probably closest to iPhone :) but you can get it only in China or Hong Kong :(

Sorry, can't say, I've changed mine to a 3rd party certificate. There is an option to accept all certificates, so I would be confident that it would accept them.

A personal preference of mine with Android and Symbian^3 is that I can turn them off when charging. iOS and WP7 turn back on when connected to power.

SonyEricsson do not produce a custom cradle for the Xperia Ray, however, it does fit nicely into the cradle for an LG Optimus One P500h :-)

Wow! very bauhaus setup.

There is the LiveDock Multimedia Station for the XPERIA Ray. This'll allow a keyboard to be attached via USB.
Keyboards and Sony Ericsson happened about Android v2.3.4
Not having a HDMI means you lack the ability to wedgie a monitor onto your phone.

Sony (Ericsson) may be releasing a new phone in a few months that has a closer alignment to the iPhone 4S as it is today.

Sony Ericsson ST25i Kumquat

It is mooted to have a dual core 1GHz processor, 3.5" screen and a 5MP camera.

The GPU may be in the range of an Adreno 220 which is about twice as powerful as an Adreno 205.

Plus it looks to have that 'sexy' see through strip at the bottom, which (I believe) is the approximate touch points for the 'static' menu buttons. I wonder if that 'clear' strip lights up and has custom colour like say... an Alienware notebook.

I must admit, I do like the look of the Sony 'Ercisson' phones for style.

Still get comments on my XPERIA X10i which is circa 2009.

I'm a terrible judge of "style" and processor speed means little to me. Small, light and responsive was what I was after and the ray delivers (although my subject did not say that :-)

The only thing I've found additional processor providing (I believe, may just be vendor feature variation) is the ability to run BT headsets with video.

Ps. I have HDMI with my S2 via MHL and apart from testing it works, have not used it again (as was the case with the N8)
