BigHammer:
forgot10: Anyone got problem of using non-factory USB cable? I use the factory power adaptor with a non-factory USB cable at home. It charges real slow. However, I use the factory usb cable at work, only plunging it onto the PC without the power adaptor . It charges real fast. Seems the factory USB cable is kinda special? Anyone has similar situation or any suggestion? Cheers.

I bought two cables from a Telecom shop (not a common product yet) and both were faulty. PC can't connect and gives a faulty device error. Nokia cable and the default HTC cable are sweet.

my non-factory cable is a Nokia cable. does your nokia cable charge your HTC phone properly? my one is just slow as!

I'm using one I got for about 6 bucks off trademe, seems to work fine, although I haven't really paid much attention to how fast it charges.

Why don't you try switch them around to confirm that the factory power adaptor hasn't stared to pack in..

dpw: Has anyone actually noticed any difference/improvement after the latest OTA update? The only thing I noticed is Quickoffice now has a different icon - that's about it...

I lost the Friend Stream and Weather widgets from my home screens and couldn't re-add them.

After another reboot they were back.

No big deal, but slightly annoying. It'd really piss me off if I had to redo all of my home screens!

Charging isn't particularly quick with either cable really! But it only gets a full charge at night so I don't notice how long it takes. I have the phone plugged in to top it up while it's in the car or if it's getting low in the office or at home.

johnr: Bugger Sim icon is back

Despite saying I didnt have STK on my sim, I in fact do! But no SIM with cog logo on my phone, need to meet someone with this problem and do a SIM swap to see if it follows the SIM.

I have a couple of questions, if you don't mind :)

1.   How do I see my history in Dolphin HD browser ?  I sometimes need to get back to a website I can't remember the name of...

2.   I got a 32GB Sandisk microSDHC card too - and when i tried formatting it using the Desire, it seemed to format incorrectly and cause a disk error.  Did you have this issue?  I ended up formatting it using my laptop and a card reader, using the default FAT32 allocation unit size (and it has worked fine for the past 2 days at least).  Do you think the allocation unit size makes any difference?

Thanks,

I can't find history either, although you may find your link at the bottom of the Most Viewed tab.

RE: The 32Gb card - known limitation that you cannot format them in the phone (I believe 2.2 fixes this).

You should be fine with default allocation size. It only makes a difference if you're writing many, many, very tiny files to the card, each will take up the minimum space, even if they are far smaller. Probably no issue any more, but I recall from 'the old days' (N95, circa 2007), before GPS mapping software became ubiquitous, people were downloading very small map tiles to their cards in the hundreds and thousands - they were taking up orders of magnitude more space because of the allocation size.

Has anyone had a problem with "limited service"? I took my Desire out of my pocket about 30min ago to find it was running on "limited service" (not sure how long since it "lost" connectivity). First time it's ever happened. I left it for 30min hoping it was a problem on vodafone's end, but to no avail.

A reboot seems to have returned it to normal though. Fingers crossed I don't get that ever again!! :(

Whoaaa! Phantom Skinz now has a screen protector for the Desire - got the email from them yesterday.

Tim/JellyWeb - are you getting one?

Regarding to the cable issue: I took my HTC factory cable back home. Tested together with the non-factory (Nokia) cable. I re-installed the HTC Sync, found the HTC cable works in all aspects, but the Nokia cable failed on both Dish Drive and Sync mode.

Anyone know where to buy a decent micro usb cable, at least works for HTC Desire? coz I want one at home one at work...

The Nokia cable I have works just as well as the HTC original for data (thankfully). Actually I've only been using the Nokia cable for data as the HTC cable is heavier duty so it's been in the car for charging. I'll probably buy another HTC original if I order anything else from Clove. I think they're around £6

Oh yeah!

Sounds like PS1, and even N64 emulators coming to Android!!!! Given my HD2 could run PSX games at fullspeed with sound I'm optimistic about how these will run on our Desires :)

Now all we need is USB Host to be ported to the Desire so we can play PSX games with a PSX controller...
