KoreaBeepu: Hey guys, i bought a parallel imported samsung galaxy s3 from expert info tech back in august. Im still new to android and still clueless to how most things work. How do i update my software to jelly bean? i tried the 'software update' on the about device settings and it says no update, and on samsung kies it says "your device does not support software upgrading via kies"

I think my device came from france or belgium, because the instruction booklet is in french.

Info about device:

Baseband version: I9300XXLF2

Kernel Version:
3.0.15-671647-user

Build Number: IMM76D.I9300XXALF2

Do i need to flash it or something? im using mac btw, so cant use odin.

Sorry if the question is abit dumb, i am honestly clueless and never that good with technology haha

Thanks in advance guys

ok I know nothing of rooting with Mac but try here

once you have done that you need to read up about the differant roms available here

then read about on how to backup flash

it is quite nerve wracking the first time but if you follow the guides and do your backup you will be fine.

monkey300: How'd you get it delivered for so cheap? Do you use a special shipping option?

The sellar on ebay shipped it for free.

So, what ROM's are people using, any comments on them? I am using Omega 33.2, seems fine.

Hey Brendan. I was previously on Omega 33.2 and followed most of his work since ICS and now Jellybean 4.1.2. Flirted briefly with Criskelo but the recent versions weren't as stable..  Now on Wanam V 5.0 and it's very slick, probably more so than Omega 33.2. Omega has some good options for mods, but after suggestions from others, gone with Wanam and happy with the results. 4.1.2 in general really is smooth.

Found myself moving away from the AOKP roms and now happy with the Samsung based roms.

- Telstra HTC Touch Pro2 - Energy ROM WM6.5.5 20 Oct/Cyanogen Mod Froyo 2.2 - R.I.P
- AT&T Galaxy S Captivate 16GB on XT (now with brother)
- Samsung Galaxy S2 on XT- Runs ICS 4.0.3 Resurrection Remix 9.2
- Business Hours - Work In The Electricity Industry, After Hours - DJ/Turntablist - Will Scratch Vinyl For Free'
- What's next??? S3?

Wow seems like theres alot of things to do. Honestly i just want to get jellybean and for me stock is fine, but it seems i cant do it the "official" way, so i might have to use roms and maybe root. but all the prep work like backing up, etc seems kinda complicated to me whos never done this before.

Are there really no other way to do this without using roms? i mean other than using kies and the software update from the phone?

Sorry for the questions, im really quite confused.

Thanks

Just be patient, the 4.1.1 update won't be far away.

MY CUSTOM BUILT WATERCOOLED MOUNTAIN MODS PC

OffTopic: Epic rig mate. Looks great lit up.

OnTopic: My CM10 is going great, but I feel like I am missing Touchwiz. I feel dirty, but hey, Samsung worked hard on it, and I think they did a good job. I feel wanam calling me....
