Anyone know how to disable the side volume rocker switch, I always inadvertently press it right down to low or vibrate so I don't hear the ringer. Also anyone got any decent notification sounds?

You can use whatever you like for notification sounds - heres how (courtesy of Nimbu):

Adding New Ringtones/SMS Notifications/Alarms

To add new ringtones or SMS alerts, connect your Desire to USB and mount the device on your PC. Browser to the following folders:

Ringtones:

/sdcard/media/audio/ringtones

SMS Alerts:

/sdcard/media/audio/notifications

Alarm Alerts:

/sdcard/media/audio/alarms

As for good notification sounds - Google is your friend.

I knew how to do it, I was mainly asking about the rocker switch but thought someone out there might have a really good suggestion for one.

  RE:   Dolphin HD - history

Woah, i just found it.  There is a history link at the top of the list of most visited pages.  Strange, I never noticed it there before.

I've ordered a set of matte skins.  If you're ordering them, don't forget to enter "summersale2010" as the coupon code, for 30% discount.

To solve the volume button getting knocked l just levered it off with crow bar.

Kidding.

Get an app called volume locker. It resets the volume after a specified time.

You could try Nimbuzz. At least I think that's the one that does Skype.

Re: Nimbuzz: I don't think it does the voice side of things - Skype feature is for text chat only.

@JellyWeb: Thanks for the offer but I am okay with the Zagg so far - not sure if I can be bothered going through the whole exercise again. My phone now has the screen protector, as well as a hard plastic shell. All good to go!

Fring does Skype calling.

Can anybody here who has run the small update tell me whether it fixes BT? Many may not have noticed it at all, but the problems with HID profile access really bug me on a number of fronts...

Why not just do the update and find out?

I want to use the wireless network at polytech where I work. To do this I need to connect via a proxy and there doesn't appear top be a way to do this. I have read sites that suggest an app may be available to do this but i haven't found one. Any tips?

Cheers

See http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1273

Google has known about this for ~2 years and still hasn't fixed it in 2.2. There are some workarounds/hacks/apps in that bug, but I believe you have to root your phone in order for them to work.

Whenever I have a device running very well I always like to get a changelog before applying an update, never know what bugs will come up in a new update eh?

Thanks for that Bendigo.
