Got the "free" TV - delivered today.

It's actually pleasingly good, 43" 4k, boots quickly, netflix/lightbox/prime video apps work fine. Built in sound is okay, panel quality is very good, no mura, no light bleed, good viewing angle. Pretty decent TV all round - I would have been happy to pay ~$1k for it.

A bit of a PITA with setup for DVB-s, with Sky and god knows what else, is a bit tedious to set up so the remote has TV1 on the "1" button etc. - there's a couple of hundred channels to scroll through. You select FTA, but once you select one you need to go back into menu to reselect FTA, as it reverts to "all". Glad to only have to do that once. Menus etc pretty good - I didn't need to RTFM.

So very happy with that deal - which I think is still available until the end of this week.

My SO is bedazzled by the Note 9. I bought an off-brand (Momax) charger for it, the Samsung charger that will support it tilted up was too expensive IMO, so I took a punt. Works fine, seems to charge it "quite" fast, slower than USB-C, nominal charge rate is 10w. She's using the phone for work, especially the stylus/note for recording notes in meetings, after a full day it's got about 60% charge remaining.

Anyone been getting the moisture warning for no apparent reason? I use a wireless charger so it's not really an issue but the notification won't go away. There's definitely no moisture in there.

Eek, nah, haven't seen that one. Used to get it on my old S7 Edge a bit though, eventually went away so I figured I must've actually had some moisture in there.

Re: the Bluetooth connectivity issues, I've found it happens way more often now, I seem to have to clear the cache once, sometimes twice per day if I've done particularly lengthy listening sessions. I might now be at the stage where I'm going to take the headphones into PB Tech and see what they reckon. Would still be great to hear from anyone else who got the PB tech preorder and uses the Note 9 + Momentum 2 combo, to see whether they have similar issues or not.

In the meantime though, I've settled on a quicker & less obtrusive method to getting things running smoothly again (even if only temporarily) - you just need to go into Apps (:Show systems apps) > Bluetooth > Storage, and clear the cache and the storage there. You don't need to worry about force stopping it, clearing the other bluetooth caches, or restarting the phone. If you have the headphones connected while you do this, they'll disconnect briefly, and then auto-reconnect (and hopefully resume what you were listening to) after 10-15 seconds. The whole process takes 30-45secs to do at most, so is a lot less hassle than the other method I listed.

I spent a bit of time fiddling around with the Bluetooth codecs/other settings under the developer options, but none of it appeared to make a difference, sadly.

One thing to consider with the bluetooth issues is how many connections you have. I use a smartwatch (Galaxy Watch) so thats one connection and also the tile app which will connect to tile trackers in the background to track things. I think this increases the likelihood of drop outs with bluetooth headphones. There isn't much you can do about this as I really want my watch to work and to be able to find my wallet. You can set the tile app to not run in the background which reduces the issues.

The S Pen (when in use) will use yet another bluetooth connection.

I have an annoying issue where every text message I get, shows as 2 messages on my message icon, and if I get a second one, it shows as 3.

Anyone got any ideas how I can get it to accurately show how many unread messages you have?

That's a fair point and something that I have considered, because - like you - I've got a watch (Gear S3) which is connected pretty much all of the time via BT. I have done a test with this switched off (when I say "test", I mean I accidentally left home without it one day while it was charging :D), and I still had issues with dropouts during the day - the headphones were the only BT "thing" I used.

I've also tested the headphones on other devices - laptop, my Wife's phone - and could never get it dropping out unless I went way out of range, though maybe just using it for a couple of hours wasn't quite long enough to replicate the issue (walking around for a few hours + disconnecting/reconnecting with the Note does seem to trigger it however). And I have an old pair of Jabra BT headphones I swapped in for a day with the Note (with my watch still connected) that wouldn't drop out.

I also didn't ever have issues in the past with the Jabra headphones + my Gear S3 connected to an S7 edge, even after months of consistent use. So to me, it seems to be something specific with this Sennheiser + Note 9 combo. Codec incompatibility, or some issue with the BT version? Dunno ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's also why I'd be interested in hearing from other peeps with this particular phone + headphone combo, so if it is some kind of software compatibility thing, I'm guessing there'd be more people experiencing the same problem. Be good to rule this out or dig further.

At the moment I haven't managed (or been fussed) to take it into PB tech to see what they think - I've gotten into a routine where before I leave and put on the headphones, I clear the BT app storage on the phone and this sorts me for whatever walk/commute I'm doing.

Hi. I got the Sennheiser headphones + other stuff in the PB tech Note 9 offer (Crown bundle I think it was called) and I've not had any problems with BT drop outs at all. I used to get occasional BT drop outs on spotify with my old headphones (both Jabra & Beats) with my old Note 4, but no probs with the Note 9 & Sennheiser combo rom Pbtech.

Nope. The only other thing I've paired my phone with is the car. Obviously not at the same time though.

Awesome, thanks! That definitely helps, the multiple devices connected at once is a potential culprit - I guess when I did my "test" without the watch for the day it wasn't from a clean slate, i.e. I didn't flush the storage that day. Might be something I try again.

I have the same experience with the note 9 + pcx 550. Individually ok but dropouts when used together.
