Firmware is 2.17.707.3 but what is more exciting (for me) is 4.0.4 is the last build of Ice Cream sandwich , should mean Jelly bean isn't too far away.

It really is an excellent update, so much so that I've stopped using Apex Launcher and gone back to Sense. Home screens locked at 60fps, much less lag, 3 dot menu bar is gone with multiple options for how to access menus with the hardware keys, browser is faster with a convenient "Tabs" button right in the menu bar to access all your open browser windows. And most importantly, the whole phone is running much cooler now, even when plugged in. Solid work by HTC on this update, it's made me put off loading a Jelly Bean ROM until they're fully baked.

Are your phones UK or NZ sourced, how did you get 4.04 onto your phones. Mines an NZ Telecom and seems to be freezing more often recently.

Mine's unbranded UK from Clove.

If you're on Telecom, there's no telling when you might get this update. Could be months. I'd recommend just flashing the RUU.

2.17.707.3 would appear to be an asian version. Can we assume your phone is a parallel import?

Edit: Sorry, crossed with the reply above. RUUs only work from specific software to specific software dont they? i.e. 1.29.707.X to 2.17.707.X. Only way from Telecom ROM at the moment is unlock/root/custom-recovery/load new rom.

Every time I think the same, I remind myself that when I got my HOX it was at least $130 cheaper than from any other source (Warehouse Stationery introductory deal). I am keeping track of the update history at the moment. 20 days since 2.17 first appeared.

This is true. A great deal from a local vendor is certainly in the "pro's" category.

I'd say that depends who you import from because my handset cost me the same as the warehouse stationary cost. but you do have a store to go to should all things turn pear shape...

Yes, it was the best price I could find at the time. Prices march downwards. My phone was available last weekend from Dick Smith for $720 ($80 less than I paid) and the importer I normally buy from has them for $655. $344 below RRP. Just a rush of blood made me buy Telecom branded from a high street retailer. Think I'll stick with PIs from now on, though still like bricks and mortar PIs so I've got a counter to thump on if things go awry.

Source?

All I can find is an unconfirmed report on MoDaCo. Hope it includes stuff like Google Now and isn't too heavily skinned.
