Put CM10 Jellybean on my S3 couple of days ago, utterly excellent, love it, but obviously being in nightlies at the moment there are some issues.

For me:

Youtube doesnt like going to landscape - freezes.
WiFi and Bluetooth switching on/off via tasker seemed unreliable.
And screen on/off detection wasnt always reliable either.

Overall very snappy, makes the already fast stock ROM (XT) look a little slowish.

Felt that ADW Ex (or other launchers) were totally unnecessary in CM10. Excellent look, and lots of customisability (not as much as ADW etc, but where it counts was all good).

I have gone back to stock for now, hoping that official JB is close, although I have downloaded CM9 ICS stable and might go that route instead, as CM has a great look and nice features.

For the newbies:

Used ODIN / CF Root / ClockWorkMod and made a nandroid (CWM) backup of stock ROM before I did anything.
Downloaded CM10 and did the flashing.

Whole thing took 15 minutes including the nandroid image. (Save it on your PC!).

gingeralenz: Do you need to flash firmware to change CSU to BTU? All I could see is VNZ under the options.

its a good idea if you don't want custom Rom's but remember that changing CSC will wipe your phone so if you are doing that then better to go custom.

Been very happy with Omega v13. tried v14 and v15 but buggy so gone back to v13 for the time being.

not much happening on this threa so thought I'd bump it.

Been on Android Revolution for about a week and thought it quite good but a few bugs but seems to be in the leaked version not this rom. Not having wifi issues like some just minor things like not being able to look at pics taken in gallery, after updating to LH7 that was fixed for ones taken after upate.

Anyway wasn't any real reason for staying with ARHD so thought I'd give wanam a try since it has a good reputation and can also install theme like vertimus.

Just a thing I've been trying is the suggested advanced restore of data after installing new rom and doing full wipe. Been working well no problems apart from finding on one rom that it pays to start rom first then back to recovery and adv restore then its ok and don't have to reinstall anything. Only reason I use it is that I have found doing a full wipe means less issues and less painstaking setting up again so give it a try would welcome your thoughts

After a week or so on Resurection Remix 3.0.4 I have been really enjoying the stock google UI and rom. The contacts/dialer and messaging apps look really nice and the notification shade is great too.

Only problem I have is a slight memory leak which means I have to reboot it once a day or so but nothing to stop it from being my daily driver.

I changed to try out Omega V16 but with this being my first Android/Samsung phone I honestly cannot get past how bad Samsung roms look. Purely a personal aesthetics opinion as the ROM itself ran very smoothly and I do like some of the samsung touchwiz features.

so do you mean to do a complete wipe - install a new rom - then adv restore?

yep been using that on last 4 rom's, found for me that if I backup, full wipe then flash rom, boot up ignore logins then reboot to recovery, advance restore data only and bingo its all there an no setup. Haven't had any issues thus far and gone from AOKP to AOSP and now wanam lite all full wipes with advance restore.

LI1 out and has fixed most of the issues but seems some are having problems with cut & paste. Must be getting close to final before release.

I put Wanamlite 3.1 JB on today (was already running 3.0) So far it is running flawlessly, everything I have tried thus far is working fine. Battery seems to be great as well but probably a little early to tell just yet.

I stayed away from LH8 and 9 as too many issues and I am happy with LH7(for now) looks like its getting closer to official release so can't be bothered flashing for the sake of it.

Will see what wanam does for official release and then add maybe vertimus theme or jkay as he is getting his theme out pretty quick now.

Failing that I'll go back to Resurrection remix as it i a nice rom. Prefer AOKP over CM9 or 10 more functionality

Currently on LI3 via Omega's V20 Rom and it is running great. No issues at all run, installed straight over the previous version without wipe and very smooth.

Official Jellybean release has to be very close.

So far i've remained on stock rom, but i'm considering rooting my phone in preparation for the official jellybean rom. Can someone point me in the direction of some good guides on the topic? I've read the android nz guide on rooting.

JB should be out shortly I would think up to LI5 thus far

Trying to follow android nz guide to root my phone but when I go into download mode on the phone I need some help selecting the right option.

The options I get are
reboot system now
apply update from external storage <-- suspect its this one?
wipe data/ factory reset
wipe cache partition
apply update from cache
