Sim does not matter. I bought a telecom bundled phone and got ota while using 2degrees Sim. But country of purchase may matter.

Bought one earlier this week for $299 - missed the boxing day specials doh! - and even for this price it is a fantastic phone. Got the OTA update to ICS via Wifi with no problems at all. Beats the pants off my old Defy, hands down.

I see Telecom has removed the Actrix 2 from their online store so I suspect all this low pricing for the phone is to run out stock as it is end of life?

A few things I have noted so far though...

Firstly, on the box it says you get a bunch of free EA games. I followed the instructions, but it appears they might not be available in NZ. Anyone encountered this?

Secondly, when I dial my voicemail and go to enter my PIN, the screen blanks out after I press the 3rd digit, making it impossible to complete the PIN entry, and causing my VM mailbox to lock. Have disabled the PIN now which gets around the problem, but doesn't actually solve the problem. It only seems to happen when entering a PIN, not with the initial dialling or in any other application. Odd. Anyone else seen this?

Interested to see if the above are a common trend with recently purchased phones (a batch problem) or just restricted to me.

Hi, here is the link to the EA games apk file->
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786347

(link near bottom of page, 325kb) will only work for Atrix 2, or pm me and I'll email file to you.

Install it and you have 10 free games to choose from, install the games over wifi as some are big (300-500mb).

Have not noticed the screen issue, but don't use a pin for voice mail, only prob I have noticed is radio keeps dissconnecting and closing radio app, is not the the ear phones, is the phone jack or Android 4, don't know really.

I'm really enjoying phone, massive upgrade from a Vodafone 845

Cheers

Thanks, works great! Agree - definitely need to do the game downloads over wifi unless you have deep pockets!

I flashed and rooted a leaked Telecom NZ ICS a while ago (system version 672.1.12.MB865.TNZ.en.NZ) but would like to update to the official OTA that's out now (672.1.20 I think).

Would it be safe to RSD back to gingerbread and update OTA? Or would I brick? Otherwise is there somewhere I can download the official Telecom NZ ICS to flash with RSD lite?

Do you guys get any sluggishness when entering text? This guy from Computerworld reports:

It seems the problems are mainly with native apps and the user interface. Sending a text message, a relatively simple function on most phones, is infinitely harder because you?re waiting for the keystroke animation to catch up to the next letter you?ve typed.

Nope, mine is not sluggish at all, but I'm not the speediest typist either! Maybe I just got lucky?
