richms: westpacs cashtank is great.

I'm not sure what everyone else needs from a mobile bank app, but for me it's 99% 'Do I have enough money for this?'.  Cashbank was awesome for this.

Cashtank doesn't give a balance unless you ask it too. So less problem if someone sees it. Some people seem to think that $1k in the bank is heaps and means you should be buying them drinks and stuff so prefer people not to see my balance.

I don't know. But I can't access my accounts with it as I don't have a regualr transaction account. Just a fastsaver & cash management accounts and none are accessible via the asb app for me. It says I need some netcode which I haven't been able to setup. When I enquired some time ago I recall being told there was an additional cost or something, so didn't investigate further. The other banks make it a lot easier to set these things up, as I have got all the other banks apps working, as I have accounts with most banks in NZ.

Netcode of ASB is now a free service, you don't need to pay for it.  But if you are a Skinny customer, you are out of luck, they still don't support ASB's Netcode since day 1.

Yeah, the netcode is a right PITA with ASB, and its really lame how you can only have one phone number for it, and they act like its a big deal when you want to change it.

The ANZ / Nat bank app has stopped working for me. Enter your card number and password and nothing happens, the button doesn't work. No errors, no crash, just sits there dumb. Anyone else had trouble with it? I use a Samsung G2

I'm with Bankdirect (owned by ASB). It was their online bank for people who don't go to banks, all online etc. Sadly, it's now very neglected and doesn't even have an android (or any) app.
I'm curious how much work it would be for them to enable the asb app to support Bankdirect, I suspect not much. They have a "12" bank account number, you can do everything at a asb branch and I think that they run on the same systems, but, I'm not sure. I think they are happy to let Bankdirect be the poor cousin in online services (which is both ironic and annoying given who they initially targeted).

My one observation of the Kiwibank app is the pic for a payee looks suspiciously like the dude from Mythbusters

I changed to ASB from bank direct for that exact reason. Sucks needing to change account number but thankfully I dont use it in many places.

BNZ is my vote, has the most functionality and is fully native.  ASB's is a hybrid web app
