grudge: You made me curious grant_k which album is this ? :D
richms: Rdio lets you sync to the device for offline playback. Unfortunately it is a global sync to my devices list, I cant choose which device gets which songs, but a 32g card in the phone goes a long way to getting most of what I want with me available without hammering 3g, and I have that option if there is something I want that is not synced.

Unless you were a teenager in the early 70s like me, you would probably never have heard of it, but here goes anyway:
Days of Future Passed - The Moody Blues
It was digitally remastered in 1997 and sounds better than ever. It's the kind of niche title you might have found at the back of Marbecks on a dusty shelf, but only if you remembered to look for it. Google Play is much more convenient for finding stuff like this.
Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD. https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Getting slightly OT but I have that album on SACD remastered as 5.1 HD audio. It sounds fantastic in that format and is a tribute to the recording technlogy of the day and mastering engineers, that tape hiss and other analogue artifacts are barely if at all audible.
Alas it is out of print now and the cheapest available appears to be about US$100

Thanks for mentioning that Laurence. If I had the space for a 5.1 system I could well be interested, but for now our tiny cottage can only fit 2.1 so the 320kbps files I got from Google are sounding pretty amazing compared to the LP I had back in the day.
Nights in White Satin was a big hit back then, but it's nice to have the complete album-length tracks that led up to it, and enjoy the whole experience again. Glad to see someone else here appreciates it too

Looks like as per usual NZ is getting shafted. But hey its good news that they have launched Music here.

Shafted insinuates that Google has something against us, they don't.
The reason why we get things last is because we are small. USA = 311 million, UK 63 Million, NZ=4.3 Million, if i was a business man and I wanted to sell my product to as much people at once which would I pick????????
Not to mention, with books, movies and music they have to set up the licenses to allow NZ to have access, same with Kindle for their books, why do you think spotify took nearly a year to get to us? they weren't shafting us either they were just arranging licenses and making sure that the countries they would make more money from were set up first.
On another note, I've never purchased my music online, just generally got CD's but will I be able to DL music from the play store and play them using another App or do I have to use GMusic?

Once you've purchased a track or an album, it appears in "My Library" under Google Play. From there, you can download the whole album as a ZIP file, containing unprotected MP3 files @ 320kbps. I've been playing them on my PC, in my car, via my phone etc.
TheUngeek: Hmmm for $15 I'd be near expecting a hard copy
No, I still don't 100% trust the cloud! Plus with our internet, having to redownload or stream things is a pain and sometimes not viable
