Ok anyone getting the battery drain bug with the 5.1 update

Works fine for a day or 2 then drops down to 0% within an hour.

It would seem that a lot of people with the sony watch is having this happen (including me).

Yes, I have had undue battery drain a couple of times since the update. Can't see any direct link between apps and the drain though. I know I am tempting fate, but since I went in and manually deselected wifi again on the watch itself (thought it was off but somehow had toggled itself on) I haven't experienced the big drain.
Hopefully a bug fix is being prepared, but I suspect this is us being beta testers for Google for Wear 5.1.

Reset the watch again a few times a couple of days ago - no update. I have now to send it back to Sony, so won't test it...

I see Sony have finally made the stainless steel strap available in European markets. GBP54.99 (NZD126.49).

Yeah, Nah.

Just received an OTA firmware update. I can't find anything about it on the 'net so I'm hoping it is just a patch to fix the battery drain bug that my SW3 occasionally suffers from. Build number for Android 5.1.1 is now LCA43 on Android Wear version 1.3.0.2160025.
Anybody else got this?

Edit: Or is this 5.1->5.1.1?

Is this when WiFi is enabled or did you get one earlier for this?

No. WiFi was enabled on the previous one a couple of months ago.

And no reset required to get the update to show. It was just there when I went to put my watch on. Mine is from an early batch so others may not have received yet.

Edit: Definitely an update to 5.1.1. There is a new thread on XDA about it (can't link at moment sorry) but it is rolling out in Europe. I'm looking for new featuresbut won't be able to post as I'm just about to board a flight.

Cut and paste from @andrewia on XDA

Here's an unofficial changelog:
* New LPM (charging mode) with time and rotation
* Animation on icon tap in quick settings pulldown
* Less friction while scrolling in settings menu
* Minor changes to design, font sizes, and fonts in the OS (like the pulldown menu) and stock apps (like the Alarm edit menu)
* Removed low-bit Ambient mode (no more jaggies!)
* Added color settings to Analogue, Digital, and Sports.
* Possible design and animation tweaks to Analogue, Digital (notably a new color fade in animation when waking), and Sports
* New customizable Watercolor, Sony, and Classic faces (all of which have lots of settings but no card previews despite having the space...)
* Added Google Translate and Weather apps
* Added Google app in drawer as shortcut to voice search
* Added Together app and face
* Changed backgrounds of Timer and Stopwatch cards
* Added magnification gestures
* Cards are now full screen width with rounded corners off the screen edge
* Entire OS has rounded corners on the screen
* Theater mode disables when you wake up the screen
* New theater mode animation (with 5 seconds of black screen before face loads again)
* Interactive watch face API
* Tapping side button goes to ambient mode when at watch face

Gotta go, they're calling me.

Factory reset my watch on Saturday to force the update. The rounded corners on the UI are nice, as are several of the new watchfaces.

Not sure about the rounded corners. Surely better to use all the pixels and let the user decide by which faces they use.

Edit: Correct an autocorrect.

reset and forced yesterday
Have to say loving it so far, no more "i'm going to drain 50% in an hour" bug and also notice that it does not drain the battery when the watch is "off"

Before upgrading if i turned my watch off at 90% at night the following morning it would be at 20% -30% lower when i turned it on (it was draining more off than leaving it on).
Last night turned it off at 68% this morning its at 68%

While I haven't seen any sign of the battery drain bug since the update, there are reports of it continuing from some users. I will reserve judgement for a little longer as it only appeared intermittently on mine previously.

With the imminent release of Wear 2.0 to legacy devices, I am disappointed to see the SW3 isn't on the list. It would appear the fault lies squarely with Sony, who have apparently abandoned support for their last, and arguably best wearable. While I have mine fairly effectively working on 1.5 tweaked with apps and custom watchfaces. There will no doubt be ports available on XDA but, because of its transreflective and watertightness makes it a great outdoors watch. And a 2 day battery life.
My LG GWR is due for the upgrade, possibly because LG is still active in wearables.

Shame on you Sony.

I feel your pain. I will have the SW2 which Sony abandoned years ago. Great hardware let down by incompetent Sony software support.
