Still waiting as stock on their site is wrong. no stock and supplier has no ETA...
hoping to get mine soonish

Hi, I ordered mine from http://www.valuebasket.co.nz/search/search_by_ss?q=h815. Got it for $844. Hasn't landed on my desk yet so can't promise anything, but someone else ordered from them in the thread and they seem to have gotten it....

Tip: when you put it in the basket, go all the way through to ordering it but close the page before you put your details in. If you do it right, it'll pop up a coupon code to take another $5 off. So why not eh?

I ordered the brown leather H815, because it was cheaper than the red, and the H815 has apparently been rooted if I decide to go that way. They also have the H815T (same as Harvey Norman sells for $1200!), but I don't think it has root yet.

That was me, I think. Took a little while to arrive, but got to me with no issues and no GST or customs fees - $904 in total. Went with the H815 model because it had LTE band 28 (though I've since learned that the H815T does too) and bootloader unlock was readily available from LG.

Loving this thing so far. Absolutely blown away by the camera, still have to pick my jaw up from the ground every time I take a picture.

MartinGZ: Clove Technology UK. I emailed Clove and their H815 does include Band 28 and they have updated their website to reflect this, all done within a few hours of me sending the email. Sample price (incl shipping) GBP425 = NZD907, GST + import charges = NZD185, Total $1092. About the same cost as the NZ grey importers on pricespy. Pays your money and takes your choice I guess. Clove have been around for years (bought Psion 3 then 5mx of them xx (censored) years ago), and think they still have a good reputation. Any problems would mean sending back to the UK at your cost whereas the NZ importers have local costs (but check the T&Cs).

ValueBasket. I emailed VB asking if they issue a GST receipt and have not heard back from them as yet. Does anyone have a GST receipt - with valid GST number from them?

H815/H815T. These 2 are slightly different, and although I cannot be certain, it seems the 4G bands for a particular model are the same wherever they are sold. I guess websites sometimes only list bands that are of interest in the country of sale. Pretty certain these are the model and bands of interest to NZ:

H815: 4G: FDD (B1)2100/(B3)1800/(B4)1700/(B5)850/(B7)2600/(B8)900/(B17)700/(B20)800/(B28)700 MHz
H815T: 4G: FDD (B1)2100/(B3)1800/(B4)1700/(B5)850/(B7)2600/(B8)900/(B17)700/(B20)800/(B28)700 MHz, TDD: (B40)2300 MHz

H815T is a Hong Kong special and the bands are listed on the LG HK website. My guess is that any updates may get seeded to the device with the bigger base first and this is likely to be the H815.

H815 is also the only version to so far (I think), to have Root access and that includes an official LG method to Unlock Bootloader - for those interested. See http://www.naldotech.com/how-to-root-lg-g4-h815-using-supersu/ or web search. This again may point to more LG support for this model. Root tends to be very model specific, so root for H815 may not work for H815T.

Got the H815 end of last week.
coming from a Note 2, so still getting used to the "LG way", but looking very good so far..

Got mine this morning, ordered via Supero. I'm upgrading from a much-loved but knackered Galaxy S3 (plus a very unpleasant couple of months with a Lumia Windows phone). So far I'm very impressed, it's a great size and the black leather back is beautiful. I'm looking forward to playing with the camera a lot more. Also the supplied earphones are surprisingly good.

The only glitches so far are that I didn't clear off the SD card and Dropbox decided to upload a million old photos all over again, and for some reason it's popping up the "Select Home" chooser every time I hit the home button. No idea why.

However theoretical calculations and real world usability are not always the same. I use the phone outside a lot for collecting data & at times trying to read the S3 screen is a pain in the butt. I'd hate to go backwards with the G4.

Any feedback would be welcomed on this aspect, not just those using an old S3.

Nokia 6110, 6210, 6234, Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, Huawei Ideos X5 (Windows Mobile), Samsung Galaxy SIII, LG G4, OnePlus 5, iPhone Xs Max (briefly), S21 Ultra. And I thought I hadn't had many phones - but the first one around 1997.

Both phones are on manual, max brightness. It's not even close tbh, the G4 appears distinctly brighter to my eyes in both cases. I've just spent a week travelling with the G4, I left it on auto the whole time and had no problems reading it anywhere.

Now I've put a few miles on it, there are a couple of things that are still bugging me. The most annoying one is that it chimes a notification when the battery is fully charged. This notification doesn't obey any of the settings for quiet time, can't be disabled, and tends to happen shortly after I'm deeply asleep. Unless I can find a way to remove this (maybe by rooting the phone) it's going to be exiled from the bedroom when it's on charge.

The other mild irritation is that there doesn't seem to be any setting to reduce the camera resolution. The camera is great, easily the best mobile camera I've used, but I don't always need 16MP shots that come out at anywhere between 4 and 9 MB a pop. It would be nice to have a snapshot setting that could maybe halve the size. Maybe a 3rd party app would help, but the built-in one is nice to use.

The screen is fine. In bright direct sunlight (the first we've seen here for a little while...........), the screen was readable on auto brightness at 30%. Without auto, manually set it was about 40 or 50%.

Now, this is directly in the sunlight. I could have signalled a passing aeroplane with the reflection.... I could not make it unreadable unless I turned auto off, and reduced brightness below 20%. I've had samsungs, and HTC's, and it's easily better. My last phone, the HTC M8 had a highly regarded screen - but the G4 has it beat for readability in sunlight.

I don't think you will have a problem.

I ordered my G4 from Valuebasket.co.nz on the 4/7. I received it only YESTERDAY. 17 bloody days, even though they said maximum 6 working days until it's on your doorstep. It spent those 6 days waiting to be 'processed'.

It was only when I phoned them up one final time and told them if I did not see it was on the Courier in 2 days, to cancel the order that I finally seen some movement.

Happily, it arrived 1 day earlier than their estimate (from Hong Kong), but still... Don't be afraid to hassle them if they are dragging their feet, just do it sooner than I did. Too bloody forgiving lol...

Anyway:

Price: 9/10 (of shops I looked at; einfo.co.nz was damn close).
Prompt delivery: 5/10 (atleast I did actually GET it...).
Condition: 9/10 (perfect - did come with a foreign charger, but they included am adaptor)
Communication: 6/10 - english was not their first language, but understandable. The real problem was the provisioning of my order and delays. Hire some more staff, jeez!
Overall: 7/10.

If I had my turn again, knowing how they'd be, I'd just pay the extra and get it from einfo.co.nz - Ive had faster service there.

The phone itself is great! Bit worried about bashing that camera lense though. I'll be looking into cases etc I think.

Bit concerned about warranty issues, but they say they have local repair agents.... Anyone had to use them for this?

Gotta say, I'm extremely impressed with the idle battery life on this phone. If I don't use it much during the day (with wifi/4G/BT/location all turned on) but maybe listen to a few podcasts and send/receive a few texts then it only drops a couple of percent by the end of the day. I've only had one day when I managed to actually run the battery flat so far, and that was when I used the camera for most of a morning (screen on) and then let it sync a couple of hundred MB of photos to Dropbox.

I am looking for a microSD card for my LG G4. Thinking of getting a 128GB one. Has anyone bought one yet?
