Before Amazon ran out of stock I had tried to add one to cart and go through till payment and was able to. It added on GST automatically too!

I didn't actually order it though so can't be sure.

Nice! Do you recall what the price worked out to be with GST in NZD?

I can't be sure but I think it was like $55. Don't quote me on it!

I ordered from Amazon recently. It took them 4 days to dispatch the order, then it took 6 days for DHL to deliver it to my door. I paid economy shipping.

I have plenty of USB power anyway, and I prefer slower chargers as it's better for your battery to charge slowly. It appears that the 4a comes with an 18w type C charger supplied.

There's some "oddness" with the Pixel 3 I've got - and chargers. With the OEM charger I didn't think it was doing "fast charge" as I'd plug it in and it would notify that it was "charging" - not "charging rapidly". But then on occasions it does go straight into "charging rapidly" mode. I think (but not sure) that if the phone is warm from being in my pocket, then it won't go in to fast charging mode using the OEM wall-wart. But if I plug it in to the C port on my Intel NUC, it always goes in to fast charging mode. If I plug it in to the C port on the Dell laptop I'm using now, then it's "Charging-slowly" - and when they say slowly, they're serious about it. Maybe I should avoid using the NUC for charging phones if it's got potential to kill batteries. Despite small battery being a gripe about the Pixel 3. Normal or wireless charge speed is plenty fast enough for my usual needs, I'm not a heavy phone user, one full charge lasts me for days.

Yes. Read this article, and this article. A key quote in the summary of the second article is "Consumer and most industrial Li-ion chargers charge the battery fully. They do not offer adjustable end-of-charge voltages that would prolong the service life of Li-ion by lowering the end charge voltage and accepting a shorter runtime".

OK. I've never bothered about looking in to it, never needed to replace a battery on a smartphone before binning the phone, my last phone (Nexus 5x) managed close to 4 years before doing random reboots which I expect is a very bad sign given the issues many experienced, but battery life still seemed pretty good.

Batteries do wear out. A Huawei I have has battery capacity reduced from 3000mah to 2000mah after three years according to Accubattery. My S4's battery is a few years old, used by my toddler occasionally, that lasts about 40 minutes of screen time. Xiaomi 9T had from memory a 4000mah battery but tested capacity was less than 3500mah, probably lower quality. Moto G8 plus has 4000 mah battery, it's tested at 3800 to 3900 and is staying about level or going down very very slowly over time.

Shame the price jumps up a bit with GST and such. Still, not a bad price. I think I want one, but I want to read some end user reviews before I order.

CGA might apply to overseas sellers: "If you bought an item online from an overseas seller, the Act might still apply but it becomes much more difficult to resolve issues and enforce your rights."
