TeaLeaf: This is the reason Im considering the Pixel Pro, the Sammy 24Ultra and possibly now the Iphone 16 Pro which is getting some good reviews on those Sony sensors. The images on all of them are plenty good enough for travelling and hiking etc. Of course if I know we are going to look at a specific piece of Fauna or Flora I will take the mirrorless Sony FF and a macro lens, so it still gets used. If I had more cash (that I could justify spending) Id go for one of the 1" sensor models, something like the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

Battery life might be the decider. Pixel 8 Pro battery life is not great. The Pixel 9 Pro has a smaller battery and actually lasts longer. Depends how light you like to travel.

iPhone 16 comes with magsafe built in. Android, that is additional accessory spending. Magsafe is great, and horribly overpriced.
