I think I may have found why I get nothing so far...
Apparently my ROM version (1.19.707.7) is considered "branded" by HTC as it includes chinese text input & a few other things specific to that region.
Will have to wait it out til HTC sort the release for this version (or root & dive in that way)

So if anyone else has one on this version that'll be why no updates yet.

That's interesting - what is it about the controls that you like? Other than the green icon for absent album graphics I can't see anything hugely different...

I was going to say that I thought they were new as I'd never seen them before, but a glance at the other Android in the house shows me that I'm wrong and just never looked at the lock screen before they fade out of the way Surprised

My upgrade has been less than smooth,

before the upgrade my phone said it could not backup all the data to the memory card, even though its pretty much empty.

The Camera stopped working which I found was due to having a widget called flashlight v1.09, after removing the widget the camera/videocam/barcode scanner worked again.

WiFi remains on even when I disable it, at least its showing up as using 25% of the battery usage and does not go away till I place the phone in aeroplane mode, restart and then put back into normal phone mode.

My battery life on its first charge was around 2 days maybe, this last charge it dropped 10% just in the 15min it took me to drive to work. Not sure if I'll make it home tonight before needing to recharge.

I'm really hoping that the battery just needs several dozen cycles before its fully conditioned, apart from that its working very well, much to the annoyance of my work mate who doesn't have the upgrade available to him.

I think gadgetsonline imports their desires from Hong Kong (The default keyboard was chinese when I first got it) If updates are just in 'Europe' does this mean that phones imported from asia will not get the update?

Flash 10.1! I have tested with tv3 and tvnz on demand, both work really well. flash games are still a bit crap for input though.

Wow cool!  How smooth is the playback and can you do full screen?

Not noticeably choppy, fullscreen works if I can get my stubby fingers to hit the button.

My experience of this update has been dreadful!

New HTC Desire A8181 arrived from Mobicity.co.nz today. Charged it fully, and used it for 30-40 minutes on Vodafone 3G (in Android 2.1) without any problems (voice, internet, wifi all working). Then it offered to update itself to Android 2.2 - I accepted the update (i.e. the official over-the-air update).

Since downloading the Android update, the handset reboots every 2-3 minutes, gives the error message, "Process system is not responding", and wifi, 3G internet and voice do not work at all!

I tried a hard reset and factory reset without joy. I even tried downloading the update as a zip file from the HTC website, and re-installing it to the phone from the microSDHC card via the 'recovery' menu, but again, the same error and re-boot cycle appears. I imagine the next step would be to try to re-flash an old 2.1 ROM, but I don't want to invalidate the warranty.

This seems to be a known problem, mentioned on other fora:
http://androidforums.com/htc-desire/138792-froyo-2-2-prob-lems.html

Most of those reports are of 'debranded' HTC Desires, which makes me wonder whether my phone was originally branded, and was debranded by Mobicity before I received it (although it looked neatly wrapped).

Anyway, I've contacted Mobicity's warranty dept - looks like I will be sending the phone back. Only saving grace is that I didn't have enough time to put any data on the device.

If anyone else is using the SwiftKey keyboard, I can confirm that the extra space it adds after words is what was messing up my freshly-re-entered APN settings. I had an MMS this morning that wouldn't download, went in and removed the spaces and all of a sudden it fired up and downloaded the image.

Also, I was seeing very high battery usage after the update but a complete battery-out reboot seems to have fixed that up nicely.

The only other thing I've noticed is that the first time I tried the 720p video recording, the sound was disabled in the options menu.

That sucks.  Sending it back is the best thing, who knows what the issue is.

The wifi hotspot work is nice. And I like the new profile/sound widgets. Didn't have any troubles with the install except losing Swype (requiring reinstall).

There's a small addition to the texting screen, there's a little send button in the text input box so you can send the message without having to hide the keyboard or scroll down. A small but useful change.

I like the redesigned 'manage apps' function too. Nice to see a better view of what is actually running and where stuff it. This is where I noticed the speed improvements too, previously loading the list of apps took ages and was laggy but wit the new list, it loads quick snap.
