timmmay: You have to wait your turn for service. You can't expect people to drop everything when you need them.

I feel your frustration though.

Isnt that the reason for the water indicator tabs that turn pink? So they can quickly ID if its wet or not

This is correct. But there is always a line of people who want their phones fixed "right now" - Telegistics can't always fix all phones in a instant if they need testing etc...

firefuze: The $55 Service charge isnt required to be paid before sending a phone away unless it is out of warranty. (or appears to have damage)

$400 for the loan phone sounds higher than normal, what model loan phone were you given?

You could be liable to pay repair costs if the phone was damaged (which im sure you will look after), not $400. Unless the value of the phone is $400 and it was lost or stolen.

Happy to follow this up for you if you PM me your Work Order number, and provide some clarity if you are not getting the answers you want from the store.

The phone they lent me is a Sony Ericsson C510a, the Cyber Shot one. Its a decent phone, but its covered in scratches and stuff, very very far from new.I wouldn't pay more than $100 for this thing on trademe.

tardtasticx: Just a quick question, was I legally allowed to sign that contract saying that if I broke the loan phone then I'd have to pay $400 since I'm not 18 yet? That thought just struck me now too.

Noticed this with the Sky contract/receipt thing after the technician left, Im not sure if its illegal for us to do so but it does make contract invalid

So if I break this phone they cant do anything since its invalid?

In the rare case you do, I would doubt it. However there is the whole "contract conditions" thing about being 18+ so telecom might try and retaliate in some way since youre supposed to read all the T&C stuff but theres nothing to worry about unless something with the loan phone goes wrong

Yeh I read all the terms and conditions on the page before I signed anything. There's nothing on that page about age as far as I can tell. When I get home on Sunday I'll try scan it and upload it here.

Oh right, well the Sky contract had about 4 conditions of signing the contract and one was being 18 years or older. If I remember correctly both parties must be of a reasonable age or something like that, so if there is nothing about age considering youre not 12 or something stupidly young the contract can still be considered legal.

sbiddle: Unless you've got a dud battery your experience isn't really that much out of line with the experience many Android users experience. My LG Optimus Black can't survive a full day's use (ie until 5pm) unless I charge it. On Saturday I had it at around 75% charge at 4pm when I went out and the phone was flat by 2am with only very minimal usage.

There aren't many phones these days that don't require a nightly charge, the old days of 3-4 days battery life doesn't exist any longer.

Android battery life...

Our work decided to jump onto the 2degrees business plan, meaning we all ended up with those LG Optimus blacks.  Everyone who auto syncs their exchange email gets horrid battery life from them, mere hours. You also can't seem to just leave the WIFI, GPS, 3G on, have to turn that off when not needed. And don't get me started on VPNs.

My Desire and Iconia don't behave the same way, so I put the poor battery life down to shocking ROMs from certain manufacturers, and people installing apps which don't allow the phones to go to sleep.

I know the LG Optimus Black's battery itself is fine. If you do nothing with it, ie it will last at least a week with a sim card in it while stationary, and over 2 weeks with no sim card in it.

I keep forgetting to post back with results on forums I start >.<
So they called me in the middle of my Language and Literature class, but the teacher wasnt in so I answered.
They said testing had completed and the fault was verified. The repair people gave the store a credit of $299 for the phone and Telecom said I could come in anytime and collect a replacement or pay the difference for an upgrade. Couldnt afford to upgrade to anything else and I wanted that phone back anyways.

Long story short, they replaced it outright, and the battery is lasting nearly 2 days now which is great :D

Can't remember if I posted here about it, but last weekend we went to Telecom at Manukau mall, and spoke to the same lady who I brought my phone off. Told her I convinced my mate to buy the same phone and he paid cash too, increasing her commision because she was a really nice lady so I dont mind giving her it in this case. Also, we're planning to move both of our numbers from Vodafone to Telecom becuase they have that $20 prepay deal, where you get 20minutes calling, 1000 texts, and 200MB data. More interested in the data at this point, because I dont think I'll be using 1000 texts.

Anyways yeh, just venting my frustration on this forum is good for me so I keep doing it xD sorry guys

Have a good one
- Sam.

Install "Where's my droid power". It'll show you what apps are using what percentage of the power, it's probably some background app chewing it up.

I get usually around a day & a half out of my SGS2 with moderate use.

Android is not a very power-efficient OS unfortunately, that's what you get for having true multitasking.

Ok so just now I'm wanting to go to bed, but my battery needs charging. I plug it in, and nothing happens. Tried different outlets, tried it in a different USB charger, even on my comp. It just wont charge. I've also noticed a text I sent at 10pm still hasnt sent, and I no longer have 3G/HSPA (whatevs it is, the H logo) connectivity, just signal bars. It still says I'm connected to Telecom through the notifications bar but I cant do anything else. It did it this morning too. Dropped all mobile data connectivity for about 2 hours between 9 and 11am.

Not happy. Not sure if the data issue is related to charging or something. But this phone needs to charge >.<

What can I do
