Since my eternal wailing on the Check for Software Updates button seems to be producing sub-optimal results, I sent a message to 2degrees to see if they knew anything. Unfortunately all I got was a canned response that sums up to "we don't know anything, ask Samsung".

And since Samsung has removed the update schedule notice from the members app, i thought I would bug them too to see if I got a different response to @roderickh, but no, I got the same (albeit, more verbose) version.

So yeah, not really sure who is holding up the wagon, but would be nice if we got a better than first quarter of 2019 release date.

Hell even US carriers have started rolling it out, and from what I hear they are truly awful for updates.

Just flash it manually, the process is rather easy and painless. The only reason I held out initially was for wifi calling but it turns out the XSA software also had it. If this rollout schedule is permanent (with NZ being dead slow at it) then you may as well be on the Aussie firmware and have earlier updates next time.

I'm just lazy enough that I would rather wait until the NZ OTA comes through, it is just annoying since the security updates are frozen to November and all we are getting is a "sometime soon" answer.

WiFi calling would be a bummer to lose, but I have 1000s of free NZ mins and don't call overseas, so not a major. My main concern would be Knox and banking apps, as I use my banks app + Google Pay everyday.

I see there are options for official stock firmware that don't trip Knox, so if nothing has happened by March, might give it a stab.

Edit: I see the notice is back up listing Note 9 as expected Feb-2019, so we will see how that holds up

I was reading this article re my Note 8 https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_note8_receives_its_fourth_android_pie_beta_update-news-35485.php and spotted this '...The Galaxy S9/S9+ and the Note9 rollout took a solid few weeks before everyone received...' written in past tense.

Please shed some clarity here, I just literally enabled airplane mode and left my wifi on and can do both calling and receive..... Unless of course we're talking about something different here?

I've been lurking on some forums for Note 9 owners since I got the phone. Seems some parts of the world got a December security patch for Note 9 while still on Oreo; many of the same folk also got Pie weeks ago. Grrrr.

Pleased to read in above comments above we should get it this month. Only 2 weeks of this month to go now!

@roderickh Wi-Fi calling will display a picture of a phone handset by the Wi-Fi Signal indicator (Calls are routed over a internet connection)

Free roaming on 2degrees and phone use when out of mobile coverage

@linux I am on XSA Pie firmware and am on a 2Degrees sim. Confirming WiFi calling works and have tested as per my earlier post.

Not holding my hopes high on it as the S9 plus was supposed to get Pie in January and all it got was a Security patch update. A bit disappointing given the Note 9 is still on November patch.

Yeah i's very disappointing! It's one of Samsung's latest phones. You'd think that would be a priority for updates. Actually I like Oreo and I don't really care when I get Pie - it's the security updates I want. November the 1st and we're only 2 weeks off March now! It's especially annoying to see Note 9 phones in other parts of the world (including those with the Exynos chip) getting security updates in the second week of January while they were still on Oreo. It's obviously available on Oreo for the Note 9, so making some wait until Pie is putting our (very expensive!) phones at risk.

You're lucky the S9+ got patched.

Yes security patch is my concern too. A family member uses the s9 plus hence I know as I checked on their phone today. Oh well all we can do is wait
