It's not really staining if it just wipes off.

networkn: NZTF: you had the note and said it was one of the best devices ever, are you migrating to the GSIII, or just buying one for a play?

I love my Note to bits, but the S3 will be my daily driver (I will keep the Note though, and it's rare that I keep my old handset when I get a new one, which speaks volumes to how good the Note is). The S3 has lots of improvements that are important for my use - exFAT support, BT 4.0 and Apt-X, very likely massively improved audio quality (and that would be the main reason for me to take it right there), wider USB OTG support. Mostly it's about the audio.

When a refreshed Note 2 comes around (hopefully later in the year), assuming it has the same spec sheet as the S3 (in particular the audio set up) then I will drop the S3 pronto. Obviously the Note 2 will need to have a larger screen and battery, and I'd hope it'll also have an Exynos with the refreshed Mali GPU too.

motorwayne: Confirmed: the Samsung Galaxy S III is polycarbonate, not plastic

Here

And then some funny responses from some guys about the haters commenting on the S3 design being ugly.

Yeah most high end gadget now a day is using Polycarbonate Plastic. There are a lot of people keep saying that it is made out of cheap plastic and HOX casing is high grade plastic (Polycarbonate). Little do they know that both on HOX and S3 are using Polycarbonate plastic. Different coating material is then became a questionable discussion. I just don't really care about what they say any more :)

I'm still going to buy S3 when it comes out. Whether it is shiny or matt coating. The design is beautiful in its own way.

NZtechfreak: Good news though, can't complain at a more durable kind of plastic being used. Wish they'd used the matte treatment process HTC used with the One X, but I'm more about function than form anyway, so already made my peace with the S3 design.

Same, the HTC is a good retail unit, but the functionality of the S3 is superior IMHO

Microwave for 3 minutes on high. If you haven't defrosted, I recommend 2 minutes on low beforehand, or leave in a cold bowl of water for 2 hours :)

Laughed my head off! The HOX nearly went in the "bowl" so to speak when I scratched the stupid screen on it.
