I will be returning mine if it has no NFC, it's one of the things I want most. Data transfer by bump to my staff!

networkn: Amazon has the US version for Pre-Order at $800.

It's actually not Amazon but one of it's resellers hence the high price..

This morning's NZHerald has a Warehouse Stationery ad for the 2 degrees SIII pre-orders ($(949) taking up a third of a page. First time I have seen it in the print media. I assume it will be 16GB model and I hadn't considered that it wouldn't have NFC. Since it is with 2 degrees and they made a big thing of embracing of NFC it surely must have it.

As a long time HTC user (and current HOX owner) I'd just like to put in my 2 cents worth saying that if the SIII lives up to the hype and the preliminary reviews, it will be a great handset. Even though I dislike Touchwiz, the iteration on the SIII has some great features. I hope WS continues with a price of $949 once the pre-orders finish because that will definitely light a fire under the network operators (T2V). They already did it with the HOX by offering it $100 below the T2V pre-order price.

Speaking of that ad, I'm a little confused about the in brackets '(if purchased before the 6th June)' and then the terms and conditions stating from 17-30th of May.

Is it just the additional sim card/data offer that is restricted to 17-30 May and you can still buy the phone by itself for $949 up until June 6th?

Hi all. I'm trying to decide what network I should use when I get my S3. The the moment with my s2 I am on XT prepay with a Talk text data value pack and a data top up. It works fine for me and costs like $38 a month for 20 minutes, 2500 texts and about 450mb.

In Wellington the whole CBD has free wifi as does my work and uni so I don't need much data. However, when I travel around the country I am normally a little short on data as I like to tether my Transformer Prime.

Is anyone on the 2 degrees who can comment on how good their data network is? I'm thinking when I get my S3 I will go on the $39 pay monthly plan and get 220 minutes, 2500 texts, and 150mb data + 1GB bonus data for a year.
It doesn't say on their site if the bonus 1GB data is National or in the cities only. I called up and the person said it was national but I never trust what they say.

Any comments or suggestions on which network I should take my s3 to would be appreciated.

Edit: I am also planning on using Spotify so the extra data might mean I can live without buying a spotify premium account to get offline mode.

The 1GB is national. Only the mobile broadband zone data packs are specific to the main cities that 2Degrees cover.

When I was with 2Degrees their data network was pretty good and they have the same coverage as Vodafone.  I think the only possible downside is that 2100mhz (the main frequency that Voda/2Degrees use) has worse building penetration for signal than Telecom who mainly use 850mhz.

2Degrees also have Data Sharing which is pretty cool if you have a partner that needs data or another device like a 3G stick.

Probably the wrong place to have this discussion but I am also wondering about plans.
If anyone can tell me what sort of thing they use their data for and how much per month I would be interested as this will be my 1st smartphone (I am on cdma and have been holding out since the S2 saying I would buy the next awesome phone).
I am in a similar situation to above, most of the time I have access to WiFi but need data for times when I am not at home/work. Probably going to go with 2Degrees $39 plan too (unless someone has a good reason not to?)

If you don't text a whole lot then the prepay $19 data combo from 2Degrees might be a good starting point, until you know what your usage habits are likely to be at least.
