To answer the OP, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is recently released.
It is powerful and light but not under $500 (I love it as a replacement for my Nexus 7 3013)

I'm keen to take a look at the 7" and 8" versions of the Lenovo Tab4. It was announced back in Feb but I've not see any updates on availability.
Me too, waiting for Tab 4 8 Plus. Seems to be a solid device and a worthy successor of Nexus 2013 and my Shield K1.
I find K1 to be a bit too heavy.

Asus surprised us by announcing Zenpad 3S 8, which has the same(?) spec as Tab 4 8 Plus. A bit hesitant due to the bloatware Asus usually put on their Android devices though.
Dingbatt: My Samsung Tab S2 (8") just got updated to Nougat last night! But of a surprise as I thought it had been left behind now the S3 had been announced. Kind of renews it in my eyes and will mean the replacement can will be kicked down the road a bit.
Which model of the Samsung Tab S2 (8") do you have. I am looking to buy an S2 T713 and want to be sure that I can update it to Nougat. Thanks in advance.
So Noel Leeming has the 8" Tab 4. Shame it isn't a 1080 screen but otherwise the specs look good.
