I like Microsoft Launcher because it allows more customisation than the vanilla Android launcher and a full backup/restore of settings/icons. Other than this the phone runs on vanilla everything.

Having bought that 7 Plus for my wife a couple of weeks back when Warehouse had 20% off Nokia, we're still waiting for screen protectors to arrive so haven't even opened the box! (An@l in the extreme...)
Another vote for Microsoft Launcher - I read the recommendations of a few here on GZ so gave it a go, and I totally rate it. A number of useful features that my previous preferred launcher (Nova) lacked, plus also the pleasure of a new wallpaper every day! I'm certainly planning on sticking it on my wife's 7 Plus as well as my OnePlus 6 when I finally get around to buying that, despite (or even perhaps because of) the relatively pure Androids on these phones.

I haven't used a screen protector on a capacitive screen for several years and have never had a problem by not using one. The user experience without the screen protector is so much better.

jonathan18, what brand of screen protector do you use? at the moment, I only have the clear case from MOFI.. looking for a good one.. prefer a 9H tamper glass

TBH, I get relatively cheap ones from eBay - tempered glass for sure, but I'm talking $2-4 a protector. This is the first time I've purchased the full-cover ones (ie, with the black edge), so I've bought one of each type for both of our new phones to see how they work (it can be tricky if the case in use comes around the sides of the phone too far). I'll let you know whether they're ok!
Personally, I'll not use a phone (well, one that I care about) without a screen protector - they've saved my screen on a number of occasions so I'm happy to trade off some loss of screen sensitivity for this (not that I've ever found this to be an issue). I can't imagine how much they'd have saved me over the years, as clearly I'm a bit clumsy with my phone...

I have tried the MSFT launcher a few times including the latest version ans while it is a pretty design with some nice features I have found it to be resource hog. I experience a marked increase in battery drain and the phone over all feeling sluggish with some Apps being painful for example Flightrader 24.
I currently use either Google Now Launcher or Lawnchair Launcher. My phone is a Note 8.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Really liked the Nokia 7 Plus.
I see in this article https://www.androidcentral.com/what-dual-4g-lte-and-why-should-you-care that the 7 plus is one of the new phones that can have two LTE SIMs active at the same time. Have you tried this??

My wife's Nokia 7 Plus has twice now completely frozen on her; the touch screen becomes totally unresponsive, but equally so do the buttons (so this doesn't appear to be the well-publicised problem with the unresponsive screen, which can be solved by locking and unlocking the phone).
The phone, in this state, hasn't turned off (and it's certainly not flat), as the phone will vibrate when touching the finger print reader.
Tonight's the first time I've seen the phone in this state; I was able to turn it off by holding the buttons in, and it's booted up ok. I've now also turned on the lock/unlock sound so I can tell, if it happens again, at least whether the phone is technically being unlocked even if the screen's blank.
Anyway, has anyone else experienced any issues like this, and/or can advise ways of determining what's causing it? Do I need to uninstall a group of apps and reinstall them one by one to see if I can identify if it's a specific app?
It's running 8.1 with the latest security patch (1 Jun 18).
Many thanks.
Jonathan
Waiting for July security patch :(

... and this morning the phone (the same 7 Plus mentioned in my previous post) failed to finish charging. This was with the original cable and charger - got to 84% and just stopped; indeed, I saw it drop from 84 to 83%, despite the 'charging' indicator still showing!
Only turning it off and plugging it back in made it resume charging.
Perhaps time to see if the retailer will replace it?
