I am bit concerned on this reply. What is the possibility to forward shipping from AU?

I haven't heard anything in regards to the typical US version vs Global version with this model, yet, has this gone away, or is it likely to still exist. Many of my previous phones have come from the UK with no significant issue using here.

Most likely a copy and paste statement as they do with lots of the items they sell. They do the same with region free DVD and Blu Rays saying that they are US only region.

@Bhima. Are Google now selling direct to NZ or is that from an overseas third party retailer?
That's directly from Amazon US. It's a pretty good deal honestly, I ordered from JB Hi-fi Australia and paid $690. That doesn't account for the shipping and possibly GST I will still need to pay on it.
You won't get a NZ power adaptor from Amazon but that isn't a huge deal nowadays I guess.
An update! I've cancelled my pre-order from JB Hi-Fi and have ordered it directly from Amazon.
This probably ends up me saving $150 at least with about the same delivery time, woohoo!

So what does $350 rrp US convert to after shipping, duty and GST in NZ? $650
Yes $650, have a look at my screenshot on Page 4 of this thread.
I chose the expedited shipping option however so paid $NZD682.

If you just go partway through the checkout process in Amazon it will tell you how much it will cost in NZD (I expect it varies with the exchange rate) ...Still very tempted but honestly can't quite justify the cost. But I see some places are calling it the best phone Google has ever released.

Personally I would give it 2 or 3 months to hear of all the problems with it.
Is there likely to be any software differences between the AU/NZ release and US release? The Amazon page mentions wild things like software to detect car crashes and call 911. My previous Nexus 5 also presumed I lived in the US with its emergency alert system.
I'm just wondering if I should hold off ordering it direct from Amazon and seeing if I can get anything out of the other sites. More likely to get an NZ adapter that way too.
NZ Dick Smith is out of stock,
I just have to tell myself "I don't need it, I don't need it"
